I am working on a side project and I can't seem to get the white to come out just right, I am looking for a bright vibrant white. I have searched the interwebs for a good tutorial but haven't found much, does anyone know of a good well written tutorial on painting white that they can point me to? Thank you in advance.

What color did you prime the models? White often requires a couple coats to get that bright vibrancy and white primed models obviously have an advantage.

I am experimenting right now with priming grey, I figured since it was in the middle of black and white it might be the best bet but I am having trouble.

It's going to be multiple coats for you then.

if you prime black you will have to start with a rey base. Adeptus batlegray works nice. next cot should be 1:1 grey to white. building up the white a little at a time. keep your paint thin to avoind getting clumps, and wait for each coat to dry before addind another.

When I pant white I try to mix it with another color. Straight white is very hard to paint. I prefer Linen white from Reaper and Morrow white from P3.

There's been a few threads in the past week or two on the subject, you could just flick through the past threads and find some info on it.

Prime it white, base coat a very vibrant bright blue, then paint thinned down layers of white till your happy. White even multiple layered shows what's under it. By base coating a vibrant light baby blue(such as citadel ice blue) it'll make the white POP a nice cool bright white.

Believe it or not, I am working on a post for this very thing on my blog.
I have two ways I paint white depending on the model.

Here is the main technique I use and it's hands down the way to go for me.
Here's the article: http://fromthewarp.blogspot.com/2011/12/white-scars-and-how-to-paint-white.html

When people ask me, "How do you build your army?"
I tell them its "The ten-zero factor, coolness ten, combat effectiveness... zero."
