Subject: Daemon Allies, Only One Unit To Drop, and WTF WD?

If I only have a HQ and a TROOP choice as Allies and they are joined together (the HQ is a IC) I can drop them turn 1, right?
Also, do the new Screamers and Flamers have a 4++ as they did before instead of the "-" in the WD update or do they only have a 5++ from the Daemon USR? My update needs a FAQ...
As a side question, if the rumored Daemon release digitally happens this weekend and there is a rules clarification or update about anything... what do I do if I don't have a Ipad? Not trying to stir that pot again, I was just wondering if there would be a FAQ for all of us paper codex people... :-)

1. Yes the HQ is part of the unit.
2. RAW they actually have no save as the daemon special rule only adds fear to the CD. RAI I think they're suppose to have the 5++. I don't have the book with me, but if MoT adds +1 inv like in csm then they be 4++.
3. Don't even get me started on this. This is just more proof that GW has no idea about anything related to the tech world and they think that everyone is an apple sheep.

They have no Mark of Tzeentch.
They have a 5+* save for being a demon. Automatically Appended Next Post: and I agree to your #3, Sothas.

The Daemon USR gives them a 5+ invulnerable too.

I own an iPad, but paying twice for the codex makes me sad. I'll wait for others to report in.
Other questions have been answered correctly.

It's a proprietary file format that can't (currently) be opened by any program other than iBooks, as far as I'm aware. Now, if only Apple released an iBooks program for desktop/notebook computers, not just iOS...

While I haven't done it myself (mostly because I refuse to give anything to Apple in any way), there are ways to read .epub files on something other than the iPad. However, it's quite complicated from my understanding. My best guess as to why these codex updates are only for iPad is because of how hard it is. GW has proven to be quite inquisitorial in their distribution of their products.

Daemon rules tell you to count up the number of units and split them in half. You have 2 units. You cannot drop them together.
You would need to add a 3rd unit. This would allow you to take 2 in one wave and 1 in the second. Once in the same wave, you can then add the IC to the troop choice.

Green you are forgetting what important thing. If an IC joins a unit (and this is specifically written out in Daemonic Assault), they count as a single unit for the purpose of daemonic assault. Edit to add: Note that this is done before you count up how many units you have to divide up.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

If you have an IC with a unit......say a herlad of Khorne with some bloodletters as daemonic allies, and it is top of your turn 1 you split into two waves. Wave 1- Khorne guys all together......Wave 2.....nothing. Then you roll for waves and hope you get primary, or you get nothing and wait to get your unit out of reserves.

No you DONT wait for reserves. You have NOTHING on the board at the end of turn 1 so you loose!

As Happyjew said, Daemonic Assault states that IC+Unit = 1 unit for the purposes of the assault.

Yep you're not forced to split them up, unless gw says you have to do that with the current rules you run any hq with troops if you put them together they're still one unit for divindeing the daemonic assault.

I don't think it matters in this situation, as you are just subtracting, now if you were told to halve your internets on the other hand, then we could have some fun discussing that.
