I loved the old games and anything to get the miniature game some traction is fantastic with me!

Interesting. I wonder how much of a comparison it will be to Mechwarrior, once both of these are released.

It's about time! Great news! I've been wishing for a Heavy Gear game since playing the original Gears of War. A third person shooter would be a great fit. If they need any proof, have them play Space Marine!

It's about time. Heavy Gear 2 was great fun.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

Just make sure they skip the Aztec Rex Scifi channel Saturday movie quality cut scenes this time around. They were awesome back in the day when 16bit graphics were the alternative but those cardboard computer console sets haven't aged well in the years since!

I'd imagine relatively little, MWO is an online head to head game, really it's more of a Team Deathmatch mech brawl, I'd be very surprised if they tried to go the same route here.

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

...there was an animated series? o.O

Great news! I loved the fast pace of the game compared to Mechwarrior (admitted, I love both of them... stompy mechs are fun!) so I'm definitely looking forward to this. Can't wait for more info.

Yeah. The DP9 crew generally tries to forget about it ourselves, so don't feel bad for missing it. Here's a long-neglected page about it:

http://dp9.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=125:heavy-gear-history-the-tv-series&catid=93:heavy-gear&Itemid=160

It is generally considered to be an in-canon Southern TV series aimed at the kiddie market. The actual series was apparently supposed to be targeted a bit older with storylines involving the CEF 2nd invasion and the opposing arena teams unifying as a Black Talon force or something, but this got dropped as it was considered too 'heavy' for the crowd Sony wanted to sell it to.

It's really not very good. The animation was good for the time, but has not aged particularly well. The writing is not terrible, but not great or particularly true to the original source material, either. I think the version Netflix had available had some commentary and the writers felt bad that they couldn't absorb the huge stack of material the guys gave them to work with.
