Anyone else thinking of setting up a vet sarge up dual wielding bolt pistols. Gives you a nice double tap of str 4 without any negatives to cc. Plus Precision shot is nice and hey it looks badass. One of the downsides is the oddball 2 point cost per gun but it might be a good way to use all my points in a 1999 point game

It's been mentioned before as a possibility - given the chances of actually getting to use precision strike, maybe you should give it a go with all your infantry squads, and report back on your success?

Umm, I don't know. You're paying 4 points for 2, 8" shots that, though S4, are still only S4...

... and they're still only Ap5.

Given that there are special weapon options that are likely to do much more for only 1 point more, I think I'd stick with those.

Was the whole point to do a 2x pistol sergeant, I think I'd do a suicide sergeant with 2x plasma pistols instead.

You have two options to make this viable, in my opinion. One, as mentioned, is to give them to ALL your Sergeants and get a decent chance of hitting those precision strikes. The other is to go with dual plasma pistols for a shot at taking out harder targets.

However, in both cases you're hampered by 12" range - seems like a moot point since you're liable to only get to fire those pistols once in a game before charging or being charged.

Dual plasma pistols on a deepstriking stormie squad is the only place I'd bother with them. Everywhere else they're too expensive for what you get in my book.

is that even possible with RAW, my main ccs dude has a powersword and power fist and some grenades(also big mek bob's cold dead skull as a trophy) my thaught to make it legal was to give the regimental standard bearer guy as he just waves a flag until he dies(and holds the commanders gun till he sheaths his powersword.)

I was actually considering of doing this to a catachan veteran squad sergeant. Would look badass but I don't think it would prove that useful in the end. I would also like to make a double pistol marine sarge but I don't think that is actually possible with bolt pistols with the current codex.

Yes; the standard IG Sgt cannot have 2 bolt pistol, as it is specifically written that the bolt pistol replaces the las pistol.

The only way for a standard Sgt. to dual wield anything is either to get 2 plasma pistol, or 2 power weapon (due to the presence of the "and/or" within the description). The Commissar can also do that as well, so for the price of a chimera you get a duel plasma BS4 Commissar in your squad.

IG veteran sergeant squad can have two bolt pistols though. Sadly a marine sarge can't... it would look awesome.

Am i missing something here, can't you only ever shoot one weapon?

Weapons section of the BGB, you can dule wield pistols if it allows in your options and get "gunslinger" which lets you fire both now.
