I would be interested to know if anyone has any info on whether the primarchs will return at somepoint. I've read that the primarch of the Ultramines despite bieng mortally wounded is in cryostasis to stop him dying. Is it posiible that his wounds will heal and he will return?

Not trying to come across as a jerk but how could anyone possibly know what GW could possibly release in the future?

Well People on the rumors page seem to know when the new 6th ed starter set will come out so I wouldn't put it past people. And it would be interesting to here what people would think about the Primarchs returning. Whether it would be a good thing or a bad thing.

The game is highly, highly unlikely to ever truly advance in background. Which makes it highly, highly unlikely the Primarchs will return...

However, many Primarch's departures hint at them returning sometime, typically for the end time/when they're needed most. Russ is the most famous example of this.

So yes, the fluff leaves the option open for their eventual return, but if you're asking if GW will ever have them return, then don't count on it...

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

GW wont move the timeline.
Primarchs returning would throw the Imperium in anarchy, as most or maybe all that would return would deny the High Lords of Terra.
And there still are some Daemon Primarchs alive.

The primarchs will return when Gog and Magog rise to protect London, Arthur returns to protect England and the Hippopotami run away from Ankh-Morpork.

It's a reference to a common myth that in the darkest hours hero's will rise. Therefor, I don't think they ever will.

This.

The purpose of 'king under the mountain' myths is not that the king will wake, but that we will wait for him.

In the fluff universe setting, they will.

In practice, they never will as GW wants to keep the universe stagnant.

Really I don't see why GW can't just let Corax, Russ, Vulkan, Khan to come back for the "Time of Ending", which in turn spurs Mortarion/Magnus/Logar/Perturabo to actually do something (Angron is still trapped in the Warp and lord knows what the deal with Fulgrim/Omegon is). From a business standpoint, GW could sell really nice expensive models and could make for some interesting campaigns.

I think that's quite a good idea. They could release the miniatures and a new campaign book solely for the time of ending.

this is not neccesarily true, as many of the primarchs where still there when rowboat girlyman created the council

No, the return of primarchs would be stupid.

Firstly the traitor primarchs are gods now. They care not for the goings on in the materium. Except Angron for some reason.

The loyalists have all been killed, ran into the warp or are just laying low for whatever reason.

As millions have said for many, many years:

GW will not progress the storyline.

I think GW would only bring them back if they intended to kill them all off in a last-ditch battle during which the Imperium, Primarchs & Emperor eradicates all of Chaos, including the Chaos Gods, Deamon Primarchs, and every single Daemon; lesser greater pink purple red green named unnamed

and we all know thats not gonna happen

The background is designed to not move forward, ever. Almost every one of the new codices mention some horrible thing coming to kill them all soon. GW will never actually write or model this out, as it leaves the area for the player to create the games and background for, as well as making sure the hobby plot doesn't "Finish" So to speak. The fluff is not a book, it is a background therefore will not be completed.

We might have a chance since forge world is writing a horus heresy campaign but no we would not see them for a long time to come in the present day timeline.
