who is your favorite character in the 40k universe, they can be playable commander models e.g. Logan grimnar, book characters e.g. horus, or even any HQ you really like e.g. librarians, big meks.

personally, mine's chief librarian mephiston, he has died three times and fallen to the black rage twice, but everyone loves him enough to keep him around!

Favorite playable would be Lysander love the model and his fluff.

Favorite un-playable would have to be Uriel Ventris, an Ultramarine who's actually interesting.

Tank Commander Chronus.

I have a couple here.
Fluffwise it's Tycho, he's one of only a few characters who actually progressed during the game's history. As a result I was sad to read about his eventual death.
Gamewise it has to be Dante, I always play him from Deep Strike - just the imagery of him descending from on-high to wreak havoc amongst the foe, it helps that he never scatters...

I personally like Sergeant Bastonne, as much as I hate Cadians in general (they are effectively the Ultramarines of the Imperial Guard). A natural born prodigy (always a great leader, and fairly certain he has a photographic memory), who decided to join as an enlisted personnel simply because he didn't like being handed the rank of an officer simply because of his birth status, worked his way up, and is now a hero on his homeworld who has the memory of every single guardsman who died under his command ingrained in his memory. Grimdark, but well executed.

I have several different favorites one is Chap. Lemartes and one other is Astorath the Grim... Both of them have overcome the Black Rage and have gone on to lead their army to greatness in their own way! I also like Brother Corbulo as he is a hard lined fighter but has compassion towards his fellow brothers as well.

Reclusiarch Grimaldus. Mephiston lives through a building collapse, Grimaldus lives through a CATHEDRAL dropping on his head. Plus, his armour is Black and he can now get Rage.


They should be BFFs, that'd be frightinly messy for the enemy!

Captain Cortez, though sadly no longer a special character.

Out of the current ones with special rules, Badrukk.

Nasdreg the Bad Moons Clan Warboss. They guy just oozed character and was insainly awesome in how he changed changed up and gave Orks a few different options on play style.

Schaefer's Last Chancers because they're the Dirty Dozen IN SPACE.

Gaunt's Ghosts are up there too because I like how in a fore like IG that's known for big guns and masses of bodies, these guys don't have anythibg bigger than an autocannon and use stealth. And they still stomp faces.

Caiphas Cain. He manages to be humorous without damaging the grimdarkness.

Ragnar Blackmane, he just ooozes character. Sadly his model's frakking old and lame

Overall probably Sarpedon as I love the journey he goes on through the Soul Drinker books - fighting for humanity though against the Imperium and finishing by stepping into a warp rift.

Magnus, Uriel Ventris and Eisenhorn also fascinate me.

In game it would have to be Lysander or Nemessor Zandrekh.

Typhus, love his lore and everything about him. Coolest chaos lord by far and I think the coolest looking model in the game.

Most likely Eldrad Ulthran - the ultimate advocate of Pragmatism.

Modelwise:Cypher, just strikes me as an utter badass
Nonplayable fluff: Haegr, such hilarity from a single badass
Playable Fluff: Straken, he's something between Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham....IN SPACE!

No he didn't. Eldrad was on Hollonan at the time of the battle and he watched them pull Mephiston from the rubble, still alive.

I have a soft spot for pedro, he has great fluff and pretty good rules. he's not really my favourite but he's still awesome ^^

Book wise - Ciaphas Cain, he's a fun read
Playing - Lucius..I don't know why..I hardly even use him but I do like having him around.

Inquisitor Coteaz is my favorite.

His Fluff is awesome.

He executed his Mentor because his mentor was dabbling in the forbidden arts.

Shadowsun. A really slick model and the (microscopic amount of) Fluff she has is pretty rocking.

Or La'kais. But Since Fire Warrior is one of the few BL books with Tau as a protagonist (IIRC the only one) me liking him is completely because tau need more BL love is because he is one of the few Tau Protagonists.

Grand Master Vorth Mordrak and the Ghost Knights. I love the idea of of a character that has been saved by the ghosts of those he couldn't protect, very grim dark.

Lord Castellan Ursarkar E. Creed. Rose through the ranks all the way to Lord Castellan despite his low birth. A tactical genius who actually cares about the men under his command

Captain Obadiah Schfeer. A literal mad tanker!
