Ok so I re-read the rules for Slow and Purposeful and if any one model has it the entire unit gains the benefits/drawbacks

So here's a weird unit I cooked up as a result:

Big Mek Mega Armor
Big Mek SAG
15x Lootaz
Battlewagon (equip to taste, but put a few Big Shootaz on there for good measure)

So this unit can roll around wherever it wants, and fire to full effect even with the SAG's blast template

Not sure how effective it would be, but it's dang Orky if you ask me

Thoughts, tweaks?

I like it, but I would drop a few lootas for some mekboys with Big Shootas, you can repair tuns of HP per turn, make yourself a unstoppable that way to

You already have 2 Big Meks. ....you're right, you can never have enough. XD

Wow...I had to look it up to make sure this wasn't wrong...this is scary. And I can see the conversion now! A battlewagon as a Mek's shop/mini fortress. With Deffgun emplacements and so many bitz and bobs. Me gusta!

The correct question is, would I be enjoying this hobby if I did this?

The correct audience is you.

Definitely include some mekboys for the repair abilities, coz this BW will be a total fire magnet.

The major downsides I see are: you're using up both your HQ slots, you can't also take a KFF, this unit is a massive points sink, and I suspect it will quickly become molten slag when facing any army with serious anti-vehicle shooting. But heaps of fun, certainly...

Whats playing orks without having fun?

Of course at 2k+ you have 2 FoCs to play with.

And I would consider the SAG Big Mek to be optional in this setup. You really have this unit for the mobile Loota platform.

2 units of 15 Lootas in Battlewagons with Mega Meks as your shooty/deffrolla support. all supporting lotsa shoota boyz led by a Warboss.

Just like in 5th, SAGs and lootaz really don't want to shoot at the same targets, so I'd drop that.

You gave me an idea though. I think, I'm going to borrow a few SAG meks and try 3 SAGs + MA warboss in a battlewagon.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.

i've been taking a mega armor boss following a unit of lootas around a few times lately. it works well for moving and shooting, but you usually don't need to move to get the range i've noticed, and SBP will prevent you from overwatch with that unit.

but, throw in 3 meks with big shootas. being characters, any 6's you roll to hit can be distributed as you like; and you can heal up the wagon more readily.

for 40k

skaven for fantasy. for the under empire!........but it isn't a game anymore.

Hah, Awesome!

I was also thinking a more reasonable alternative to the Blasta Wagon would be SAG with MANZ in a Trukk or BW (saw this in another thread), so you can blast stuff open as you roll up on it.

Also, SAG being AP2 Ordinance with an average roll of 7 it should be be able to blast through most transports (or a couple if they're clumped up)

2d6(capped at 10)+2d6(pick highest) is still worse than strength 8.

Agreed, the SAG is close to the perfect anti troop weapon you can get, pretty much anywhere. But its still that that great against armor. These arguments make me wonder why the fudge they made FlashGitz heavy support, when they cant pop a vehicle to save them, but smoke troops like noones business. *shrug*

This does seem like a pretty awesome idea though, sudden a MegaMek seems like an excellent choice for low slow and purposeful. Though I might still take a MegaBoss instead, that way you have a good chance of smoking anything that might get to close

Yeah, first roll for strength, second roll for ordnance.

I would do a mega armor warboss instead of the mek, buy the boarding plank, that way if you need to move/get shaken might get an opportunity attack against a vehicle. Also opens up a unit of nobs as troops which is never a bad thing.

People who stopped buying GW but wont stop bitching about it are the vegans of warhammer
