So I haven't played in a while, and wanna get started again into 6th ed.

Here's the list I'm planning on using. The total cost comes to 1485.

HQ
Librarian-100
Nullzone, Avenger

Troops
Scoutsx10-190
Telion, Sniper Rifles, ML
Tac Squadx10-205
Meltagun, ML
Rhino
Tac Squadx10-205
Meltagun, ML
Rhino

Fast
Landspeeder Tornado-90
ML, HB
Landspeeder Tornado-90
ML, HB

Elite
Dreadnought-125
2 TLAC
Dreadnought-125
2 TLAC
Sternguard-180
Drop Pod, 5 Combimelta

Heavy
Predator-85
AC, HBs
Vindicator-115

Been a while, and i'm also not too sure about how much the roles of units have changed. Any advice and criticism is appreciated.

Looks good. The one big thing to keep in mind in 6th, is "How do I deal with flyers" has been added to the checklist of things to make sure your army can do.

Your answer is massed ground fire. You can put enough krak missiles and autocannon shots into the air, some will hit, and glance/pen.

It would probably be worth picking up an Aegis defense line to hide your scouts behind, or a stormtallon to dogfight, but what you have is functional.

Okay thanks, that's good to know. I was thinking about swapping out some stuff and putting in a few bikes possibly. Are bikes still viable in 6th?

Scout Snipers w/ Telion and a Missile Launcher is 200pts, not 190.

10 man tactical squads w/ MGs and MLs are 210, not 205.

5 Sternguard w/ Combi Meltas and a Drop Pod are 185pts, not 180pts.

Your list (when i punched it into the calculator) is at 1510 points with your listed points costs. With the correct ones including the ones I have mentioned above, you are at 1535 - 35pts over.

You can drop the drop pod on the Sternguard, but that means they are going to die before they do anything.

Up to you.

Bikes got better in 6th, field them if you want.

I field my sternguard without a drop pod, using a GoI/Null librarian to shuttle them around. They lack the first turn punch of the drop, but act as troubleshooters for the whole game, blipping around to where I need them.

I would give the scouts camo cloaks.
Maybe I would consider razorbacks instead of rhinos.

Also you need a way to hit flyers.

Nevelon summed it up. I found the aegis line with quad-gun indespensible, you could trade a dread for it and not only save points and gain intercept and skyfire for the same weapon config but give yourself valuable cover as well. Good luck!

Thanks for the input. I'll need to look into my list again and make some tweaks.

I dont have an aegis defense yet, but I'll look into it soon.

Okay, so here goes:

HQ
Librarian-100
GOI, Null Zone
(GOI if i dont use a drop pod, or Avenger if I do)

Elite
Dreadnought-125
2x TLAC
Dreadnought-125
2x TLAC
Sternguardx5-150
5 combi melta

Troops
Tac Marinesx10- 250
ML, Melta
w/ Razorback+LC
Tac Marinesx10- 250
ML, Melta
w/ Razorback+lc
Scouts x10- 220
Snipers, ML, Telion, Cloaks

Fast
Land Speeder-90
ML, HB
Land Speeder-90
ML, HB

Heavy
Predator-85
AC, HBs
Vindicator-115

Which leaves me with 120 points.
With that i can add a bike squad with 3 meltas... or a drop pod for my sternguard.

Some questions about my math. I dont have the digital codex, so i dunno if the numbers have changed but i double checked my math and got the same thing for the SCOUTS and TAC...

This list gives me 8 AC shots, and 7 missiles... Which will have to do until I buy some specific AA I suppose...

So I got to try out my list yesterday, and it went okay I suppose. I blame my loss party due to terrible rolling.... Many a one was rolled by me. I switched the sternguard for a ironclad in a pod instead, and the game ended on the start of turn 4, with him having more VPs then me.

I lost most of my MLs, and the autocannons were not enough to sink his Vendetta...

Any suggestions on improvements?

i suggest you go for the marine flyer, two will be good, armed with twin-linked lascannons to cut the vendetta apart
or
aegis defence line with quad-autocannon and give to anyone you want stationary till it dies
