I had a few test games with 6th and find it interesting - first my revised list, then some ideas and experiences

Draigo [275]

10 Paladins [675]
- 4x psycannons
- 3 hammers
- halberds
- Banner
- Psybolt ammo (i have like 25 points left so added this and MC'd the hammer below)

5 Paladins [315]
- 2x psycannons
- hammer
- 4 halberds

1 Paladin [60]
- MC Hammer (hehe...laugh every time)

Storm Raven Gunship [205]
- 4x mindstrike
- 1x t/l assault cannon
- 1x t/; multi melta

Nemessis Dread knight [235]
- Heavy Incinerator
- 2x Doom Fists
- Teleporter

Nemessis Dread knight [235]
- Heavy Incinerator
- 2x Doom Fists
- Teleporter

Actually simple i think - Death star on table along with 2 dread knights shunt or go where i need them, blast there lines etc. next turn charge. deathstar advances and shoots, shoots and eventually if needed gets into combat. If needed, combat squad them.

Draigo depending on situation will go with death star or 5 man squad, which will most likely go in the storm raven. Also have option of the solodin in the storm raven for safe late game objective grabbing.

Since 6th i started running a single dread knight and (other than forgetting to force weapon mephiston because i forgot doom fists were force weapons) he has done quite well, although it does die every game. 2 i think would be loads of fun.

Death star has mixed success, never lost more than a couple guys, but...offensively just meh... a lot of points for 4 psycannons. They can sometimes kill an entire squad in one go (especailly with psybolts on the bolters).

Solodin...just because.

So, comments? a friend suggested coteaz but i just don't see how him and some henchmen fit... cheers in advance.

Looks like fun. Deathstars incorporating a badass like Draigo are definately 1 way forward. Against a highy mobile yet offensive force (like DE) how do you think you would handle them? They basically seem like a solid counter (outmanoevre you while whittling away your numbers).

This was also the reason I suggested removing some of the big threats and adding some MSU. Coteaz brings you cheap Troops who can actually provide a decent amount of firepower. It also stops you from being overwhelmed so easily.

My idea would have been something like this

Draigo
Coteaz

5x Paladins (with your loadout)

10x Henchmen w/ Stormbolters
Psybolt razorback

10x Henchmen w/ Stormbolters
Psybolt razorback

10x Henchmen w/ Stormbolters
Psybolt razorback

Stormraven

Dreadknight (with your load out)
Dreadknight (with your load out)
Psyfleman Dread

Now this is just off the top of my head. The idea is that the Henchmen aren't actually necessary in large numbers. They just need to unlock cheap transports which can shoot at fliers since you aren't packing any psyflemen currently (because lets face it we know at least 1 person who's packing a few).

Regardless I think your list is gonna be fun as hell to play against.

any other comments? was thinking of taking my original list to a tournament...not 100% sure about the 2 dreadknights.

Lukus, your list is too "mixed" i feel. Just no focus with the henchmen and 1 small paladin squad. it is more of a Coteaz than Draigo list.

Other comments would be appreciated.

Well as I said it's just what I would do. As you know I really like my Coteaz lists and if you mix a bit in with Draigo wing it's takes away 1 of the major weaknesses (a general lack of models).

Not sure how I would change it exactly without playtesting and a good old think, but adding anything twin linked at S6 or more will help alleviate some of the flier problems. Coteaz Henchmen bring this cheaply to the table.

Should see you before the tourney so maybe we can chat about it then.

Hopefully in the meantime you will get some decent feedback from Dakka.

I like the list. These models are strong enough to push past the "lack of models" but it can and most likely will get out manouvered. If only Draigo could tell his squad to split fire, you can down more then 1 unit a turn. The deathstar literally kills anything it points at. But there is so much wasted firepower. Scoring dreadknights are amazing, paladins amazing, raven amazing. You should find a way to squeeze Coteaz in, even if you take 0 henchmen. His cost for what you get is unfair. Mastery lvl2 and divination is bonkers with paladins. Maybe combat squad the psycannons with coteaz and just charge with assault ones at the biggest thing. Everytime I play deathstar now, on turn 3ish I always say to mayself... I wish I had more squads, I should have combat squaded.

I need to return some video tapes.

If you're thinking of dropping a dreadknight (and I'm not sure I would unless you plan to reserve the single dreadknight), then I'd say your best options for replacement would be:

1) Stormraven, multi-melta, assault cannon, psybolts (ten points spare can master-craft some hammers)

2) Coteaz + dreadnought: dual twin-linked autocannon, psybolts.

Coteaz doesn't need to bring weakling along -- his potential to do so is nice, but it's not necessary to justify his inclusion

either option gives you more AA and more anti-armour.

One thing you could do for the ten man squad is throw in an apothecary and watch while your opponent grows increasingly frenzied as melta and lascannons bounce off Draigo even more. You could fund it by dropping the solo paladin and psybolts (yes, he's another scoring unit and useful, but you've 2, potentially 3 very tough troop choices with just the 10 and 5 man units and even 5 and 6 objective games don't need hordes of troops to win -- especially not cheap and easily removed troops like weaklings).

Follow these two simple rules to ensure a happy Dakka experience:

Rule 1 - to be a proper 40K player you must cry whenever a new edition of the game is released, and always call opposing armies broken when you don't win.

Rule 2 - Games Workshop are always wrong and have been heading for bankrupcy within 5 years since the early 90s.

Since you're thinking of Coteaz, he'd be quite good as a home objective camper.

Coteaz, Aegis (henchmen and psyflemen behind here), quadgun (manned by Coteaz with I've Been Expecting You), 3 plasma servitors, 2 jokaero, 7 stormbolter acolytes. With prescience (Divination primaris) those BS3 acolytes all get rerolls To Hit making them an awesome backfield heavy weapons squad. Personally I'd also go for a unit of 3 crusaders for an out-of-main-battle objective holder too, allowing all of your paladins to do what they do best and smash the enemy in the face.

To be honest, though, I think if you're going to a tournament with Dreadknights you'll need 2 of them as you know as well as me that they are bullet magnets and one of them will die by turn 2. So that probably means you won't have the points for Coteaz. Perhaps instead go for a cheap inquisitor with crusaders and servitors for a backfield objective holder.

I would drop the Halberds from your original list and run with either Hammers or Force Swords Only.

Reason 1: Divination is amazing. Look for the ability that gives you a 4++ save to a unit, apologies I forget the name. (Before you judge, read the next Reason)
Reason 2: GK Codex states "The Nemesis Force Sword increases the bearer's invulnerable save by +1 against close combat attacks. If the bearer has no invulnerable save, there is no effect."

So Divination ability replaces the Terminator or Paladins existing 5++ for a 4++. The Nemesis Force Sword increases that to ++3. So now you have a 2+/3++ Terminator or Paladin in CC.

Storm Shields.... We don't need no stinking Storm Shields!!! - Unless I am being fired apon, then its still a 4++.

Thanks All - By the way, I have not gone through the new BRB enough - the divination trick with the swords....nice... will see what i can do.

I did revise the list as follows:

Draigo - 275
Coteaz - 100

Paladins [10] 630
- 4 psycannons
- 3 hammers, swords?

Squad can either be one massive unit or combat squaded: 1 for CC 1 with 4 pscannons. coteaz (mayb go here) and draigo will go with one each

Paladins [5] 320
- 2 psycannons
- hammer and swords
will likely go in the storm raven - may be a good close combat element and maybe coteaz can go with this unit instead of the deathstar

Storm Raven [1] 205

Dreadknight [1] 235
- heavy incinerator
- teleporter

Dreadknight [1] 235
- heavy incinerator
- teleporter

Would likely make the two dreadknights scoring units so should have 4 or 5 very tough scoring units
