Hey guys,

Been playing with new army lists for 6th Ed. Want to start at 1000pts and get used to the new rules but bearing in mind that the list will eventually be expanded.

100 - Wolf Priest

170 - (9) Blood Claws w. Melter in. Rhino

150 - (5) Gray Hunters w. Melter in. Razorback w. LC&TLPG
150 - (5) Gray Hunters w. Melter in. Razorback w. LC&TLPG
150 - (5) Gray Hunters w. Melter in. Razorback w. LC&TLPG

70 - Landspeeder w. MM&HF
70 - Landspeeder w. MM&HF

120 - Predator w. Autocannon and (2) Lascannons

- 1000pts

I know Wolf Priests and Blood Claws arn't considered the best units, but they're a cheap option that still have the potential for hurt.

The Rhino will generally head straight at the enemy and distract them by getting as involved as possible while the GH's and predator form up in the midfield.

The speeders will harass / suicide as needed, or hang back to deny objectives late game.

C&C welcome.

- Gaz.

Its just a game kids.

The Twilight Zone

Speeders(along with all other vehicles) can no longer contest objectives.

I would change that wolf priest to a rune priest. Wolves have the second best psychic defense in the game with those runic weapons and against some armies it will really help.
Also having some psychic support will really help your list.
Jaws of the world wolf and living lightning are great for codex powers. Out of the rulebook, divination or telekinesis are amazing, even if you just use the primaris powers.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

posted the same list twice: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/467400.page

any how like I said in the other one:

"Speeds cant contest anymore and are super easy to kill now. not worth the 140 points.
The Rhino, Razorbacks and Predator are also BIG risks because I believe 3 glances and they are gone.

If your looking to get you GH up the field fast, why not get Drop Pods (and add metla's or plasma's to GH)?
also get some LFs for supporting fire and Anti-Tank
with the extra points you can also add more GH while dropping the Blood Claws and Adding a Wolf Guard in termy armor to each unit
and maybe a rune priest instead of a wolf priest and give divination powers and take the primus sit him in the back with LF with re-rolls to hits, or drop him in with a squad

(hope this helps a little)"

They can't charge the turn they get out of the Rhino. By taking the Meltagun you lose a close combat attack and don't really gain anything (WS 3 is not reliable and he'd have to be in the front of the squad, which means he'll be the first casualty). Grey Hunters cost the same point wise and are better.

There are times to take Blood Claws. You have to take advantage of what they give you over Grey Hunters though. Which is only one thing these days: numbers. If you aren't taking 15 of them I wouldn't bother.

These things are point sinks. Typhoons might not be that bad, with a 48" Missile Launcher. You can keep them back. But they really just aren't that grand anymore. AV10 is really week and with only 2 hull points you'd have to kill a lot of Marines with your Heavy Flamer to make it worth even taking.

Maybe Deep Strike + Multi-Melta for anti-tank. But the short range weapons are no bueno anymore. I'd really just prefer to take more Grey Hunters.

That's not really a plan... No one is going to be afraid of a Rhino full of Blood Claws. For that plan to work you need something scary.

Vehicles cannot deny objectives.

And...since you can't charge on the turn you get out of the Rhino, you might actually be charged by the enemy instead. In that case, Grey Hunters can fire overwatch with rapid firing bolters. Blood Claws will only have bolt pistols and hence half as many shots.

Yes exactly. In fact the ONLY thing Blood Claws do better than Grey Hunters is charge. They get +2 attacks on the charge instead of one. Therefore, the only Blood Claw build worth having at all is this one.
Spoiler:

Wolf Priest (100 pts)
Preferred Enemy allows you to re-roll "to hit" and "to wound" rolls of 1. This helps to mitigate the Blood Claws' low WS and BS.
15 Blood Claws + wargear (225 pts + wargear)
If you're going to bring Blood Claws, bring a horde of them.
Land Raider Crusader + Multi-melta (265 pts)
The crusader can fit all 16 of the above models in it and is an assault vehicle, so you can assault on the turn you disembark.
Total cost = 590 pts + cost of wargear

With a total of 65 attacks on the charge, that unit will kill just about anything if it gets the assault. But it's ridiculously expensive.
