I am going to take a moment to gripe a bit.

I find it odd that the tyranid prime, the apex of tyranid warrior evolution can not have wings.

That and why can't raveners have toxin sacs? I can have most of the book have toxin sacs but not raveners. their big bro the trygon can.

He's meant to be in a unit of Warriors, but it would be cool if he could be added to a unit of Shrikes and make them useful.

Why can't he join a brood in a pod?
Who knows

Why can any Warrior have dual boneswords but Tyrants cant
Who knows

Seriously, don't bother wondering why so much of the Tyranid codex is rubbish. Only Cruddace knows.

to be fair tyranid codex is nasty.

I can do mean things, but you have to get around the concept of termagaunts. they are useless

Termagants aren't useless. A Tervigon pumping out hordes of buffed Termagants to hold down an objective are great and a Mycetic Spore chock full of Devgaunts is brutal.

As I said in the thread about vanilla HQ's, the Tyranid Prime is a huge wasted opportunity.

They have a template there to make an even more mutable HQ than the Hive Tyrant ever was - make it fit with Shrikes, Raveners, as a psychic Warrior, as a physically stronger Warrior, whatever they wanted.

Cruddace simply didn't see the potential, and just left it flat.

Hopefully whoever takes the codex next sees the potential, and not only makes it what it should be, but gets a plastic kit done for it too. It should be a good option for an actual HQ, just cheaper than the Tyrant. As it is, it's a krak missile sponge for Carnifex broods and Venomthrope broods.
