Ok I've tried everything else suggested from simple green, purple power, etc. The only thing not tried was brake fluid even though I know it works I just don't want to fool around with it.
The solution? Easy Off oven cleaner, even the knock-off brand works fine. Spray the model down, wait 30 minutes, hit it with warm water, and a denture brush. Really recommend the denture brush it had thick hard plastic bristles on one side, and a small set of pointed bristles on the other (great for getting at small crevaces, etc.

This strips models usually in 1 try, 2 tried if it's dipped in minwax polyshades (polyurethane varnish). I've left platic models covered in it overnight with no harm to the model. Plstic will usually retain some discoloration from the primer. Which is good because it means it's stripping just the paint, and not the top layer of plastic IE melting it.
Metal strips like a gem.

The only thing I haven't stripped with it is finecast. I assume it won't hurt it but weird materials you just never know. Plus it's easily available in just about any grocery/home store. I've used the wal-mart knock-off brand and it does just as good. Haven't tried the grill cleaner version which might strip even better but I don't want to risk damaging the models.

Cool, thanks for the suggestion!!!!

I may try this if I come across a model that my super clean or simple green can't tackle...

Before stripping any model (finecast or anything else) find a leftover bit from the kit you didn't use and aren't planning to use and paint it with the same media as the model. Then strip THAT with the stripper of choice.

If it dies, you know not to use it on the model. If it has no ill effect, use it to gay abandon on the model.

A mate used MEK to strip paint from his metal models. It worked brilliantly (it's an industrial solvent that is very good at removing paint) - so he tried it on his FW resin next. Bad idea, it turned into goo.

I have used easy off and store brands for all my stripping needs since most of the models i paint are painted with enamel based paints and they're a bit tougher to eat through i wont reccomend to use it to strip resin becasue it will turn it to goo

Never stripped resin with it but good to know.

I have stripped numerous plastic, and metal models with it however.
