Why would a mundane person follow Tzeentch, let a lone a regiment of Imperial Guard?
My ideas are:
The populous of the planet the is terraforming the planet and need help.
They are trying to hide people from the Black Ships.
They want to be pyskers.
Trying to leave the Imperium
Do you have any better ideas, because I not in love with any of these.

Lesser Daemon of Chaos
|
In the first Soul Drinkers novel there is a group of human colonists that have been tricked by a Daemon that the Architect of Fate (Tzeentch) is the true aspect of the Emperor and any mutations or psyker powers they gain are signs of favour. By the time anyone realises what is really going on they have all been far too corrupted to turn back.
I like this type of fall to Chaos, really captures the feeling of the quote "The road to hell is paved with good intentions"
Imagine you are a soldier of the guard, who's commanders seem to have no regard for your life and constantly expose you to the dangers of the galaxy for no reward, when one day you here of a "benevolent" higher power that offers you divine salvation, all you need to do is dedicate your soul to it and you are free to pursue your own ambitions. By the time you realisr that you have whored away your soul to a daemon you would be left with 2 choices, death or continue down the path and try and attain daemonhood.

Tzentch doesnt use people the same way other gods do.
He manipulates people ! He knows the way people think, what to say to make them do his bidding.
one of the ways he uses is to talk to them personally, in there minds, or appear as a vision while masquerading as a Saint or the Emperor himself.
Edit : Damn it KorPhaeron77 beat me to it ^^

Or if you're just not happy with the way your life is going. Maybe the government tithes are too overbearing on your world or an injustice was done towards your family. Tzeentch may be about trickery, but he's a god of many other things, just like all chaos gods. Perhaps life is just miserable in general, that there's too many things wrong, and the only thing you wish for is something not this. Tzeentch can give that to you.

Tzeentch is the Lord of Change. Who in the Underhives or the sweltering forges of the Adeptus Mechanicus has not wished for a better, easier life?

The guardsmen themselves probably wouldn't be fully in on it at first. A handful of renegade sorcerers would manipulate them to think they're on a path to glory serving the Emperor.
They win a few battles and are eventually told that a power higher than the Emperor has blessed them. They all look at their fellow soldiers and see that every man among them is clad in shining gold armor and uniforms made of the finest silks. Their Lasguns crackle with power and their knap sacks are filled with the most delicious food they've ever had. Life has never been better. Any man who sees through the glamour is swiftly executed.

While that's possible, it's not required, really. Life in the Guard, by and large, sucks. Who wouldn't want an escape from that?
At least in service to Tzeentch, you're fighting for what you believe in, rather than what some ten-thousand-years-dead corpse on a nice toilet supposedly told some other guy to tell you to do. Many people who go into service of Tzeentch know quite well that they can't win, but will gladly die in his service as their actions may be the one snowflake that sets off the avalanche and brings the whole Imperium tumbling down.

People often end up worshipping Tzeentch without even knowing it. Good example is the recent Macharius Crusade article where these secessionists are worshipping the "Angel of Fire" who they think is a direct link to the Emperor, but turns out to be a Lord of Change trying to trick them into opening a warp rift.

Well Tzeentch is the god of hope and change.
Anyone desiring a better life, the freedom fighter, the opressed worker, of the Guardsmen a promise of escape from a brutal war of attrition, the whispers of power to end a conflict.
Maybe even manipulate others to drive them towards tzeentch worship.
If you don't restrict it to just magic or psychic powers then any motive can be written or devised.

Thanks for all the responses!
Here is my idea:
Step One
(underpants)
Planet _____ is attacked by, lets say Orks, they colonist pray for reinforcements, but the powers that be only sent supplies no soldiers. Enter mysterious stranger stage left, offers to save colony for a price (to be mention later). He animates the surplus gear and goes Bed Knobs and Broom Sticks on the Ork invaders. Colonist are happy, mysterious stranger gets a weird rock, everyone is happy till the boots that the supplies belong to come to town and started asking questions.
Step 2..................
Step 3
(Profit for GW) How to take Bed Knob and Broom Stick army?

In my opinion (and according to some Chaos books that contradict each other heavily), Tzeentch is the Lord of Ambition and the desire for more in life. So, say someone wants power or wealth. But he's not the Lord of Pleasure; that's Slaanesh.
