Hi Guys im new here my friend told me about this site so i thought i would try it out, anyway im building a Blood Angels army i fell in love with the HQ and red tanks lol anyway i have the starter set with 5 assualt marines 1 deth company of 5 and a transport wich i know i wont use but again i am still learning but im the kinda player that wants to win, so ill say what i like and stuff and we can go from thare, i really like asorath the grim, the model looks sick, and i like the idea of death company but i want to win and if i did use death company a friend said use Space Marine Chaplain with Crozius & Power Fist, it can hit 7 times ? so is this a good idea and i also like mephiston, i hear its just a beast, then moving on i hear for troops straight assualt marines like 3 sets of 10 is a common thing to do? and i need a few preists? i am also interested in devistators for heavy but i do like tanks too and i really like the land raider redeemer just looks like a hard toy to deal with, but what do you guys think im going to be buying into my army in the coming mounths i really wanted to know what really wins and build towards that but not knowing much this is what i like from what i know, any help would be great thanks so much,

Before we begin, in the future try to avoid run-on sentences and use capital letters where appropriate. It makes the post much easier to read.

Anyway, a major rule of thumb is that you should either have a lot of vehicles or zero. That was certainly true in 5th, and is probably even more true in 6th, with possibly a few exceptions (flyers, maybe).

An army based around Assault Marines with Jump Packs, supported by Devastators, Sanguinary Priests and a Death Company is probably viable. It was in 5th, anyway (except the DC, but they're certainly useable now).

You can't get 7 attacks on a Chaplain by adding wargear, and you can only use 1 special close combat weapon per turn.

Mephiston is a beast, but he can't beat everything. He can't take on Terminators, for example. He stands a good chance of dying in 1 turn and not doing any damage at all. He's a better fit in a list with vehicles.

Don't buy a Land Raider of any type unless you want to fill it with Assault Terminators. It's probably best to take them in multiples. Some armies (Dark Eldar) will kill them easily.

The Rage special rule used to be really bad instead of good. It required you to move towards the nearest visible enemy unit, which meant the DC could be kited around by something fast.

yea, all rage does now is give you an extra attack on the charge.

which is awesome.

The only disadvantage for DC is that they are not scoring.

The do cost a load points, especially when you consider options for getting them into the action(land raider or jump packs or drop pod.) But there are not many awesome units that do not cost many points.
Also they die to demolisher cannon but then what doesn't.

Weapon carried by the Vindicator and Leman Russ Demolisher, S10 AP2 Large Blast will kill almost any infantry under it easily but it's pretty short ranged. The Medusa also has a similar weapon with a 36" range instead of 24", but it's pretty lightly armoured. Basically, you'll want a way to keep them safe from such tanks, generally by blowing them up before they get into range where possible. A drop pod full of guys with a couple Meltas is good for this, but you could also use pretty much any long-range anti-tank,

I would recommend starting out playing lower points, that way you don't risk ending up having spent money on stuff you don't like, and build towards 2k. If your friend is also new to the game/an army he plays, see if he wants to do an escalation campaign or something similar. As to the Redeemer, try and magnetize or otherwise figure out a way to switch between sponson options.

Good luck, and it's always good to see a fellow space marine join the fight to stomp some heretics

Or you could go with Dante and sanguinary guard list. Sure it's pricey but deep strike them behind veicals or long ranged support, then they re dead.
