|
Hi everyone have been toying with this list for a few days and wondered what everyone thought, its a playtest for a no comp tournament (only comp is no special characters, hence why the archmage is baby teclis )

What are 57 archers supposed to accomplish that can't be done better by something else in the army? Archers are one of the worst units in our book.
For core the order of most efficient to least(in both points and performance) is Spearmen, Sea Guard, Archers. Core are a hindrance in our army that we must take. As such, we should take the bare minimum we can get away with. At 2500 points I take exactly 625 in core.
Shadow magic is an odd choice here. All of your melee units have lances or GW, making them wound on 2's most of the time already. Making them base S8 wouldn't change that against most targets. So Okkams is kinda moot in this army. Life magic would go further by making them harder to kill and bringing them back to life, as well as having dwellers if you can.
Swordmasters need to be 12-14 man if you want any of them to see combat. Units of 7 will be picked off by cheap archers since they are T3 and only a 5+.
Those are my initial thoughts.

Its a wither the enemy and pew pew it to death list Aerethan  And it is the best current build for HEs in the current meta (well for using core anyway) Hower I think such a list is best done with one unit of 20 archers with flaming standard and muso and then fill in the rest with units of 10 archers with muso till you hit min core. Okkams is still useful even on a unit of 10 archers thanks to ASF.
I dont like dragon princes as they have always proved useless to my list but your meta may have smaller units floating around in it then mine.
If you are going to field SMs go for MSU with 12-14 as Aerethan has already stated or go for a front line combat block of 30+
Overall its not a bad list and with a little tweaking it will be about the best HEs can do atm.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
Precisely wither a big block and shoot it until it dies and move onto the next target (very similar to how I play with my wood elves pew pew pew until the unit gets taken off).
Based on all the feedback I have rejigged the list to something like this:

 Its fething perfect and I know its works because its exactly the same list that I use except that I run the banner of sorcery on my WLs and sometime drop a units of SMs for 2 bolt throwers (give it a try It worked for me).
For deployment just bung all your archers at the 11" mark and plop all your combat blocks behind (helping to keep them alive by blocking LoS and giving cover) When the enemy gets in charge range just flee with your archer blocks bounce out thru your own units and counter charge with your combat blocks. Also keep your eagles back to protect your flanks (unless there are warmachines then go kill those with them)
