Big Meks go with Boyz, Lootas, Kannons, and Wagon make up the "gun line"

Have had more success with this list than my other attempts at 6th ed.

How about dropping the Wagon for another unit of big guns, adding a unit of Grots to man a quad gun on the AGL?

I recently played against a Dark Eldar army with Eldar Allies at 2000 points with a similar list. Main differences included one less unit of Boyz, one more Dakkajet (3 total) and a unit of scoring Biker Nobs and biker Warboss.

After playing against them, Im shelving the Jets. He had a firedragon exarch manning a Bastion Quad Gun.

Instead of jets, Ill be using Big Guns and my own Bastion Quad Gun manned with gretchin. The Bastion also provides cover to the Lootas and at the end of the game the gretchin can come out and grad an OBJ.

Bastion with Quad Gun

The Looted Wagon is much more effective than you might think it is. Dakkajets have made up their points in every game I've played with them, during a Waaagh they will kill whatever squad they shoot at, or come close enough that I can kill what's left with Kannons. This list is definitely anti-MEQ. I like this list because it gives your opponent too many opportunities to choose the wrong target.

When 6th came out, I was still trying to use my Battlewagon lists, but battlewagons can't shrug off what they use to be able to. I've had more success with just throwing an overwhelming amount of boyz on the table.

I have a few more variants on this list but, the base is the Kannons, Lootas, and Jets. Any number of them will do well.

oh ok, in that case - its a solid list

Couple of things.

First off, I'm pretty certain that 10 Gretchin are less than 60pts, then you need to add a Runherd to that, but it still ends up being cheaper.

Secondly, I'd back up VonHugal on dropping the Looted Wagon. I've run them before, and, while you are correct, and they do chuck out a decent amount of power, there are still a couple of problems with them.

1. Reliability. When playing competitively, you want to leave as little to chance as possible, this means cutting down on randomness so that you have as little chance of coming across a nasty surprise (such as you wagon speeding off up the field) as possible. With, 'don't press dat!' you're picking up more unreliability, not less.

2. Durability. With this, lets look at target priority first, You have a vehicle with a battlecannon strapped to the top. Ok, that's a decent sized threat for your opponent. So they're going to be tempted to try and kill it. So, how much firepower can your Looted Wagon take before it dies. Oh, your 140pt vehicle is just as durable as a 35pt Rhino. So, basically you have a lightly armoured vehicle with a massive target on its head.

So reading through the rule book again, the crew of the Big gunz can fire a quad gun.

A bunch of grots are cheap, scoring and then you do not have to aim the kannon at the same target as the quadgun. Though the interceptor rule means the kannon will target something different anyway.

Strip the wagon of everything but the boomgun. When he gets hit, none of his bobbles will save him from being turned into a second-grade toaster oven.
