Anybody else wish that Codices were full color, hardcover and had more fluff, etc? I would definitely pay more for a badass Tyranid Codex, I only buy codices as they are for the rules I need but the quality is laughable. I love how nice RPG books are a genuine joy to flip through and wish that the same could be said for my armie's Codex. Who else would pay, say $55, instead of $33 for a deep, quality codex?

You'd need to produce quality and not 3 more pages, put it in hardcover only and charge $110 for it (cause that would be the Aussie surcharge).

Yeah, I envision it being 33-50% thicker and having detailed, fluffy entries on units like you see in many Imperial Armour books.

I wish they'd only be $55. That's the price of the "crap" we get now.

Though in addition to those I'd like a more game friendly mini-codex, like the rulebook in the starter, just a smaller easier to carry softcover book that just has the rules. That way everyone gets a choice to suit them.

I'm in Australia and even these sub-standard codices cost a fortune. I don't think i could afford a bigger one

Is this whole forum Aussie? Haha. Really though, I don't know how you guys put up with this game at the price you pay. Theres no way I'd pay what you guys pay for a codex, i'd be printing torrented pdfs. Codex as it is should cost $20, and that's a tiny stretch.

Yes, but I'd rather pay $55 for a digital one that only needs iTunes instead of a IPad.

You'd pay $55 for a non-physical copy? Wow!

Well, tbh, he's already paying the apple tax (installation of bloatware).

I'd prefer a more general ebook format than the ipad ONLY version for their ebooks, and a lower price given that they don't have to print the frikken things to start with (printing books is expensive).

I think I made the right choice stepping away from the game before the $124 rulebook hit the shelves.

Yeah, I wouldn't pay $55 for a digital copy. If I'm spending that kind of cash, it's because a lot of people had to be paid to give me something real I can hold in my hands. If you're getting a digital copy (with all Apple restrictions and other DRMs that apply), I'd be willing to pay, at most, $5 for the book. Even at that price, GW would probably make more of a profit per book than they do at the moment with print codices. Spending $55 for something that is all but free to create and distribute makes no damn kind of sense.

As for paying more for a nice hardcover? Perhaps, but I'm skeptical. In order to distribute hardcover material, it's going to really push up the price. Not $33 up to $50, but more like $33 up to more like $70 or $80, more in line with the current rulebook. The number of pages isn't the biggest determining factor for the price of a book.

If I'm going to spend $70 on a codex, it better be REALLY good. I don't know if GW would have the ability to produce a codex of a quality sufficient for said price.

If the codex format was changed perhaps. I do not care about the model galleries or the current layout where they pad each unit entry with the fluff entry and the rules entry.

Compared to other tabletops or RPG companies the GW book prices are outrageous. Color and hard bound is not that much of a price jump.

i currently own no official codices, only print outs and pdf's including the new rule book. It costs enough for the models let alone the books
