Page 123 in the rulebook states and i qoute There are a few exceptions, however, when a unit of troops does not count as a scoring unit:
- if it is a vehicle, or is a unit currently embarked in a transport vehicle, or is occupying a building
Does this mean to hold an objective that ur troops or scoring unit inside a transport cant hold the objective unless there out of the transport

In a word, yes.
Big change from 5th edition.

Does this mean that in the 'Big guns don't tire' mission, that if your Heavy units are vehicles, they still aren't scoring?

No. the scouring and Big Guns have specific rules that allow vehicles to score if they occupy the relevant slot.

Follow these two simple rules to ensure a happy Dakka experience:

Rule 1 - to be a proper 40K player you must cry whenever a new edition of the game is released, and always call opposing armies broken when you don't win.

Rule 2 - Games Workshop are always wrong and have been heading for bankrupcy within 5 years since the early 90s.

No controversy at all, just the rule.

Yeah, not sure why he named the thread as if their was a big controversy over it, the rulebook spells it out pretty clearly:

The rule that says "In fact, in Big Guns Never Tire, even your vehicles are scoring units, providing that they are also heavy support units and are not immobilized!"

Which means I will be playing a MotF with Dreadnoughts as Heavy Support more often.

Well the mission gives your opponent free victory points for killing off your heavy support in that mission so its fair.
