So, with Slaanesh admittedly being one of the weaker alignments in the meta, how does one make a competitive Slaanesh list? I thought long and hard about this one, mostly by examining what made other Chaos powers such as Khorne and Nurgle "better" in terms of units. Khorne Berserkers and Plague marines are monopolized on by Khorne and Nurgle players, so I figured it would be logical to monopolize on Slaanesh's greatest weapon - the Lash of Submission!

With the inclusion of allies into the 6th edition of 40k, I menaged to go above and beyond the standard "double lash prince" list. This, my friends and fellow worshippers of She-Who-Thirsts, is a quadrilash list - created by combining the Chaos Daemons analogue of Lash, called Pavane of Slaanesh, with Chaos Daemon princes and keepers of secrets.

Let me know what you think. What units could be swapped out? What units could be improved upon? How do I get this list to be "tournament level"?

I'm thinking the "master plan" will be for the grunt marines, terminators, and daemonettes to form a sort of gunline, maxing out on cover and fortifications. The 4 lash units (SQUEE) will jump about on the field, dragging units from the other side of the board into range of the guns of the marines or the claws of the terminators and daemonettes.

Guys, 4 lash units. I cant get over this. Squee.

Looks good, but lately any opponents I have played who could double-up on Plasma in a 10man squad have really benefitted from that.

Sure, melta is great.. but 2 meltas in CSMs wont make a difference. Double up on the Plasma because they are your best way to pop Termies after the monstrous creatures.

Thank you very much. I dropped a pair of LCs off the terminators in order to make way for the extra points that the plasma guns require.

You have loads of lash but not much to take advantage of it, no olbits? and your paying alot of points to get the sub par lash that the deamons get

If I were you I'd split the oblits so that there's 2 squads of 1 so that you can split your fire and thy're a bit more survivable. For example, if my squad of 2 broadsides was to shoot your oblits, you can either have a squad of 2 wiped out or a squad of 1 wiped out. The downside of this is kill points, but it's only one kill point and that's only 1/6 of games anyway.

This ^ . And also...You don't have enough troops. Two Lash Princes is plenty. What you need is more dudes to take advantage of it.

This ^ . Take some blasts or large blasts. If the list wasn't obviously based around fluff, I'd reccomend eldar (fire prisms) or tau (hammerhead). As it is, there's probably still loads of stuff out there you could use for the blasts.

Couple of thoughts...

1. CSM demon princes are pricey and only get jump troop ability.

2. Quad lash and no blastmasters? Frankly your noisemarines could downgrade to bolters and give the one the blastmaster. S8 AP3 Small blast gives you much more killing power than the sonic blasters will.

3. If you can downgrade the CSM demon princes to chaos sorcerers. Lose the seeker chariots for a Chaos Demon demon prince you can fly. It will put a lot more pressure on your opponent than the 3 chariots.

How about

HQ 2 Chaos Sorcerers MoS and Lash 250

Troop 3 x 6 Emp Children with 1 blastmaster 480

Heavy 6 x Obliterators 450

HQ Masque and Herald 200

Troop Demonetts 165

That is 1545 leaving you 305 to get a winged demon prince with MoS and then whatever else you want. Perhaps a 4th squad of noise marines or improve the bolters to sonic blasters. Otherwise I have found the fiends of slaneesh to be a real pain. The strength, speed and number of attacks is really hard for an opponent to deal with and ignore.

If I'm downgrading to Sorcerers Im sure as hell not paying the points for a Daemon prince - I need more men! I'm hideously out manned in this list.

LOL, I played my 1850 list against a CSM - Nurgle player today. The power of one lash sorcerer was enough to table my opponent by turn 5 and all at the loss of 6 of my marines... Lash + AP2 or AP3 templates means you will equalize the game very quickly.

My list was;

MOS Chaos Lord with 2 ltng claws in termi armor
MOS Sorcerer with Lash

5 Chosen with 5 Plasma Guns

2 x 6-man Noise Marines with 5 Sonic Blasters and a Blastmaster

1 x 20-man Emporer's Children: Aspiring Champ with PW

1 x 10-man termie unit 2 w 2 LC 2 x Reapers and Chainfist, 6 with combi-bolter and power axe.

2 x 1-man obliterator squads.

I know it was a whimsical list if I would optimise this list, I would probably lose the chaos lord and terminators and add 4 obliterators and one more squad of chosen with plasma guns.

Ditch the daemonic possession on the vindicator. 6th ed has made it virtually useless with AP 1 doing +2 on the damage chart, and you lose your BS in the bargain.
Bring back the Noise Marines and lose the vanilla CSM.
Lose the Masque and the herald and bring in the Keeper of Secrets.
Lose the icon on the daemonettes. You more than likely won't need it if you bring them in on the Slaanesh icons your Primary Detachment is carrying.
You could also stand to lose the chariots and run a wall of seekers instead, if for no other reason than to to take up more space fanning them out to eat up your opponent's deep strike space, of to be an early threat down-field.

The new plan is for the Sorcerers to run ahead and lash units up into range of the blastmasters, where hopefully they will be locked in place by the blastmaster's pinning ability. Then the Vindicators can fire on them or Daemonettes/Marines can rush up the field and cut them to ribbons.

It is a matter of choice.

2 Vindicators will tend to get dinged and rarely get to shoot.

Instant death is a real risk with obliterators.

Obliterators offer better flexibility. Heavy Plasma for lash group instant kill. Lascannon for long ranged AT. Multimelta for midrange AT. TL melta for short ranged AT. TL plasma guns for instant kills of small groups.
