I want to get into the game of dust warfare and i was wondering whats the difference between the 2, i know dust warfare has that actual miniature war gaming feel but i want to know how close are the rules of both tactics and warfare.

Tactics is a board game like heroclix where you move in squares and the weapons have distance in squares. Warfare is a free form tabletop war game like the traditional 40k, warmachine type. I play mostly Warfare and like it better but Tactics is fun as well. The actions are roughly the same as each unit gets 2 actions and this is where the similarities stop. In tactics I feel the person who goes first has a better chance of winning. Warfare has a very tight rule set that takes a tactical mind to master. Every unit has a use in the book and works well with other units. The battle builder in Warfare puts a good balance into a game that can counter what most people would call a cheesy army. The reaction/suppression mechanic along with a command phase makes Warfare the most balanced game I have played. With both games you use the same miniatures which makes these games cost effective for a miniatures game. I got into Warfare first and started playing tactics because I had the models and the rules are free on FFG's website. Both games can be played very quick. We just had a Warfare tournament last weekend and at 300 points the rounds were 90 minutes and that is enough time to play a game if both people know how to play. I can't say enough about the two games. If you want to get started I would recommend getting the Dust Tactics revised core set and the Dust Warfare rulebook and split it with someone and for $120 the two of you can play both games right away.
