Hey All,

Coming into fantasy from 40k after 6th hit. Been doing a lot of reading, but there's definitely a whole lot more to digest. Hope to get my first game in within the next couple weeks with proxies, then develop the army I'll buy from there.

One of the biggest things I was struggling with when making the last was how many "big hitters" I needed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Tomb King
Golden Death Mask
Sword Of Strife
Shield
275

Heirophant High Liche Priest
Nehek Level 3
Earthing Rod
200

Liche Priest

3 Skeletal Chariot

28 Tomb Guard

Casket Of Souls

I suppose as a whole the idea would be to use magic to bolster my big skeleton blocks (Warriors + Tomb Guard). I'm not sure if I would have enough magic power to consistently pull it off, so that is where I thought the casket might come in handy. I wanted to add a Heirotitan as well, but I was unsure of where to get the points. I may be investing too heavily in characters.

Of course the Necrotect and the Tomb King would go into Tomb Guard unit. Trying to be as killy as possible with them to take full advantage of the Golden Death Mask. Unforunately I am unsure of how well they will perform against steadfast units; I wouldn't want to be stuck in any prolonged combats.

The Tomb Prince would go into the Warriors block. To help hold up any frightening looking enemies long enough for either the chariots to come into the sides or for the Tomb Guard to save the day. If I have the dice I might consider giving them KB to help them stave off terrible crumbles.

All three Priests would be stuck in with the Skeleton Archers. That may not be too terribly good of an idea. I was hoping to get some feedback there.

Horsemen would be deployed as either chaff or hunt weak warmachines.

Wrote up another list that might work a bit better, a little lighter on the characters.

Biggest heavy hitters in the TK book are warcats and necroknights. Necroknights work best backed up by light magic, s double level 4 and 2 units of 6 necroknights works well. And fill your core with archers. Some of the best shooting in the game.

Would the idea then be to whittle them down with archers and hope to break them with Sphinxes & Knights?

Are larger blocks of MWBD skeletons not particularly viable?

Well blocks of 6 necroknights can dish out a lot of punishment but need lore of light to maximise their effectiveness. Warcats just jump on things. The archers are there to provide drops mainly. And to pew pew things.

I would run this in 2400:

General: Level 4 on light
Hierophant: Level 4 on nehekhara

24 archers

10 archers

10 archers

5 mounted archers

5 mounted archers

6 necroknights

6 necroknights

Catapult

Catapult

Casket

I've played against it myself, and those knights are a pain especially with the shooting output.

Catapults are best when taken in pairs if you consider them, and I'd say Casket is an auto-include.

I'm a big fan of Destroyer on Kings, but I fight a lot of monsters and vampires in my area.

Your Hierophant is 100% the way he needs to be setup. Good move.

As cheap as the casket is, I'm hard pressed to think of a reason not to include it.

I suppose one of the units I'm having a hard time trying to find points to spare for is the Hierotitan. Seeing as the majority of the casting values for Lore of Nehekara are quite low, the value of the Hierotitan seems very good. But then again, I cringe at the thought of loosing him to an artillery shots in two turns.

I was also wondering if anyone had experience using Khatep with a slew of level 1s and 2s. I figured that way you could double up on most spells, and provided you brought a Hierotitan, could regen even small units of TG or skeles (or even chariots) effectively.
