I don't know about you guys/gals, but when it's ridiculously hot I cannot seem to find the desire to paint.

Anyone have tips to combat this so that I can maybe get some painting done before the summer is out?

I have a hard time painting in the heat lately because if I'm not moving, I'm dieing/can't concentrate/ trying to stab myself in the hand with a paint brush.

It hasn't actually been too hot here lately (PA, USA) but my primary issue lately is the humidity. It was quite nice today, but still the humidity was around 70%, and humidity SCREWS clear coats, primers, etc.

I got an AC, but to top it off summer months mean active months, and I'm an active person. Hello rock-wall/mountain bike/ fishing/ etc...

Rant over. Carry on.

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

You should fly over here to the UK, I think we have actually had about a week and a half of properly decent modelling weather this year.

No sooner had the decent weather started than the water companies issued a hosepipe ban as the water supplies were low.

Cue 2 months of almost non-stop rain. Minimal chance of getting undercoats, airbrush work, or varnishing done at all.

Still, I feel your pain. It depresses me that I've actually gone through 4 different "Skyrim" characters and am on my 5th, when if the weather had been decent, I could have spent all that time on models.

"Ask ten different scientists about the environment, population control, genetics, and you'll get ten different answers, but there's one thing every scientist on the planet agrees on. Whether it happens in a hundred years or a thousand years or a million years, eventually our Sun will grow cold and go out. When that happens, it won't just take us. It'll take Marilyn Monroe, and Lao-Tzu, and Einstein, and Morobuto, and Buddy Holly, and Aristophanes…then all of this…all of this…was for nothing. Unless we go to the stars." We've had an insane stretch of 100(f) degree days here. Fortunately the AC takes most of the edge off, but when the western sun hits my workspace it warms up waaaaaay too much. I tried running a fan as well, but the moving air just makes paint dry too fast.

In other words, I'm waiting for it to cool down before I can get much done!

The high prices also make the game more cinematic, just like going to the cinema!

Pshh, I just strip down to my skin, sweat, paint, and deal with it.

This is what I do; put on a film set in winter! The idea is to psychologically trick yourself into feeling cold, test this by putting on the mummy during a heatwave and see if you feel really really boiling hot;if so the opposite should be true also?
The following ones I recommend.
The Thing from Another World (the original and best)
The Thing
The Day after Tomorrow
The Descent. Alright its not winter but their underground and cold!
30 Days of Night
Ideally you want plenty of cold drinks and plenty of ice.
Bear in mind that I typed this not long from getting home from work where it was really warm and I may be delerious...

it's rainy season here in the tropics...
95f + 95% humidity = miserable...
i have a ceiling fan which doesn't do much, a floor fan to keep the mosquitoes off my ankles while i work, and a standing fan to blow on my top half while i'm sitting under the lamp...

i basically just have to accept that i'm going to feel like a Chicken McNugget for at least four months of the year...
the setting sun warms up my room like an oven just before i get ready for my night's work...
you don't really feel the fans working, but once the power goes out in a storm you feel their absence instantly...

to adapt, it's mostly mental, but more water in the paint helps...
small amounts of paint dry so fast on the brush tip in summer...
thinning the paint a bit more than usual helps...
taking more breaks to let the lamp cool down is also helpful...

two more months, and it will start to cool off finally...
c'mon winter (i guarantee i never said that when i lived in Alaska...hahahahaha)...

good luck, everyone...

cheers
