Looking to minimize points value on the Tau but get the Broadsides for that sexy sexy ranged anti-vehicle.
Is it something like this?
HQ: 1 Shas'el
Troop: 6 FireWarriors
Heavy: 3 Broadsides

That would be it, and don't forget the commander has to have 3 weapon systems/gear. I think cheapest is black sun filter, flamer and missile pod maybe?

TL the flamer and take BSF would make it the cheapest at 65 pts, but it wouldn't be a very effective unit. BSF TLMP would probably wiser but would cost 71pts. Unless you really want the flamer.

If the suit isnt nessesary you could opt for an ethereal

but otherwise bsf is usless on a tl-flamer suit. can toss on a burst cannon with it for under 70 i think

Fire caste commanders are 1+, you cant have a valid Tau list lead only by an ethereal. Unless there is a wacky rules argument against the minimum requirements in the allied detachment rules, then you have to take a commander battlesuit in all of your allied detachments.

I thought Tau couldn't ally with Orks. Am I mistaken?

Take a missile pod, a melta, and multitracker on the commander, deep strike him. More antitank, so he's not just useless points.

Tau can ally with every one bar nids.
Tbh I don't know why you want to pay a troop and hq tax just to get broadsides points better spent on ether more orks or a better ally. I know I'm bias but if you want anti tank necron are what you want. I Don't blame you for wanting to try this tho when I first saw Tay can ally with orks this is the 1st thing I thought of but I just don't think it's worth it .especially as it's slot easier to deal with tanks combat just take some lootas instead if you don't like other ally's sure you can't kill raiders with them but they are alot more vercitile

Meh good awnser I would defo tool up the hq so he is useful tho possibly missile pods, plasma and bs better to spend more points and have something useful than just wasting point on something useless
