So, I'm not sure if this is appropriate here, but I read an article, I think on dakka, a little while ago. The article was a comparison of three different brush series' two of them were windsor newton, and one was another company, I think it had a german name. They seemed like good brushes and I wanted to give them a try, but I was in a rush and forgot to write down the name. Would anyone happen to have any clue about the brushes I'm talking about? Or if possible a link to the original article?

I'm not sure about the thread, but these are the main brands people here use:
Winsor & Newton series 7 Miniature
Rosemary & Co. series 33
Da Vinci Maestro Full Belly Round or Miniaturist series

I personally use the Series 33 exclusively these days. They are the same quality as the other two brands at significantly lower prices.

A set of 5 Series 33's including sizes 1, 0, 2/0, 3/0 and 10/0 runs about $28 plus shipping.

Da Vinci Maestro's for the same sizes run about $71 for the full belly rounds, and $52 for Miniaturist, both before shipping.

W&N series 7 Min. run $43 plus shipping, and that doesn't include a 10/0 as they don't offer one for that series.

Those prices are according to the Rosemary & Co site, and the others are from Dickblick.com who sells them lower than their msrp. Some places charge $17ea for the same brushes I mentioned here.
One reason R&C is so cheap is because they only sell direct. CMON carries a few of them, but they are marked way up from what they cost on the R&C site.

Raphael is the only brand I use and I only have three sizes; 2/0, 0, & 1. Those three sizes can handle just about anything, with the 0 doing most of the work.
