SO here's my quandary; the Rune Priest is so versatile, between the spells he can use in the codex and, if I wanted, to get some from the main rulebook. For 170 pts I can have a casting Terminator with 2 Psychic Points per turn and a force weapon, essentially acting as both long ranged assault unit and support unit. Conversely, I could go with a Wolf Priest, spending only 120 for a 2+/4+ Invulnerable(+1 better invulnerable than Rune Priest), be fearless and make any unit he joins fearless, and cost 50 fewer points for no psychic powers.

Any more experienced Wolves want to shed some light on the issue? Right now my list is sitting <750 pts, so I need the biggest bang for my proverbial buck.

I was thinking about either Priest being attached to Long Fangs for anti flyer fun. The Divination primaris power is more useful than using the Wolf Priest to give them preferred enemy flyers.

Both are good, but if you are only taking one go for the Rune Priest. If you are playing large games [1,850+] I would just go for Njal. As for shoving any rune Priest in Terminator Armor, I would only do it you are running a Loganwing or the model looks cool. They work best with your Long Fangs even without trading out your powers.

For the Wolf Priest in Terminator Armor I would spend the extra few points for a Combi-Weapon [Mine has a Combi-Plasma]. He is perfect for close combat work.

I'm not terribly worries about fliers in 750 or less. Good thought though!

Yeah, definitely going to have Njal for larger battles. My Rune Priest is actually a modified Njal model anyways, so it works just fine! Reason I have terminator with my RP is I usually tag him in with a Wolf Guard Pack so a) I have more protection and b) he survives assaults a little better.

Not a huge fan of Combis, hate the lack of sustain ='( Worth a think though!

If you have a Power Armoured Rune Priest model, go for that - even if he is with Terminators. He'll have a 2+ Look Out Sir so he'll typically pass off any shots anyway and the points saved can go towards something else.

Unfortunately, both my RP models are Terminators. The guys I play with usually don't mind, however, if I play them as something different long as I don't get too crazy. I was mostly worries about getting into combat with another IC, to make good use of my FW, and then getting challenged and whatnot.

Thanks!

First off - what's in the rest of your list? Generally I'd go with the Rune Priest. But it will be worth taking both and dropping a couple of options (Terminator armour or Master of Runes, perhaps) if you have a dedicated assault unit that can take full advantage of the Wolf Priest's rerolls.

Njal is just not hard enough, to easy to kill. I would rather take 2 rune priests.

Both a wolf priest and rune priest are pretty awesome. It depends on your list. The rune priest will be the most likely to fit in, though termy armour means you are foot slogging but that should be all right in small battles.
