I like to write fluff pieces about my armies and I know I'm not alone. I want to hear the names and or back-stories of your army's characters. Is the Draigo leading your GKs really Draigo or does he have a rich story about his rise to power?
My most recent example would be my IG company commander. Ambushed and left for dead in a game against the Tau, he returned later (as guardsman Marbo) to seek his revenge against the Xeno filth that took everything from him. The fact he blew himself up with his own demo charge is something I tend to gloss over.

My Farseer, Camerath Firehsoné was taken under Eldrad's wing after he was saved from a Chaos warband by a small army of Ulthwé's black guardians. He trained in the path of the seer before returning to his own craftworld shortly after Eldrad was 'killed'. He guides his craftworld and searches for ways to return Eldrad.

Erego, he is Eldrad rules

I run a Daemons list with Fateweaver, a bloodthirster, and 3 daemon princes

Bloodthirster is the famous Ka'bandha who has an unceasing grudge against all blood angels.
Tzeentch has seen much potential and strength in Ka'bandha and has promised him that if he follows Fateweaver and sees no harm comes to him, he will have his bloody revenge on the blood angels.

Daemon princes, all loyal to Tzeentch, are:
Vermiculus Rex of unknown origin, of the few that have lived to see him state that his daemonic marks glow crimson
Ghargatuloth, An ancient Daemon Prince who is said to be made of pure knowledge
Abraxes, also known as the architect of fate or the engineer of time.

These three Daemon Princes reside amongst Tzeentch's Personal Court.
Their duty is to protect Kairos Fateweaver and to make sure no harm comes to him on his journey. They do not know the purpose of the journey, but they trust Tzeentch to guide them.

Just for fun all of my plaguebearers are called the filoviridae after an ancient strand of deadly viruses that has been lost for millenia. This ancient virus was rumored to have ravaged the ancient land of terra. They carry this strand of viruses and it flows within them alone.

Never let facts cloud a good misguided revenge story/plot.

I've not really written any back stories for my army characters, except for my daemonhunter inquisitor force which needed the back story to make the army composition make sense. At base level: he was a radical who had his own private army (multiple units of Inquisitorial Stormtroopers) and multiple daemonhosts under his control. To expand his powerbase he was working to corrupt a nearby space marine chapter, but was still in the early stages, so had only co-opted the neonates in the scout company so far. Thus the army had multiple scout squads supporting it along with land speeders. The army didn't win a lot, due to lacking heavy fire power, but was a lot of fun to put together and use on the table top anyway.

The only other character I named as a basic Space Marine caption with single lightning claw and stormbolter who always won close combat, no matter what he faced. I named him Captain Awesome after he survived a fight with 9 sisters repentia plus a leader without losing a single wound. It was the perfect example of his close combat awesomeness. He got so well known in my circle of players that people stopped trying to take him in close combat and started shooting the heck out of him every chance they got.

My Necron Overlord: Xerxius is the leader of the Bedouin Dynasty, a Fleet-based group of Necrons who left the galaxy for a time in ships, rather than go into stasis in tombs, they have returned to the galaxy to reclaim the resources and planets that were once the crown jewels of their empire.

Nemesor Zanyn was a deathmark and one of the first of Illuminar Szeras' living metal experiments.
Because of this, his mind was able to take all of his former memory on since Szeras had not started to
make low quality necron bodies yet. He was, and always will be faithful to the Sarnekh dynasty.

Despite his unparalleled skill, infinite loyalty, and key point in the War in Heaven, he was sent to work
for a simple lord on a distant fringe world. Though not entirely pleased with this, he did not complain and
continued in his line of duty. What he did not know, is that this quasi-banishment would save him, and his
world, from the terrible grip of Thaszar the Invincible.

In 824.M41, Thaszar takes control of all the Sarnekh dynasty killing their former phaeron while the
dynasty were in stasis. he convinced the computer he was the true phaeron and not a pitiful exile,
and this was sent across the galaxy to every single Sarnekh world.

Long before this, Zanyn had woken up by chance, about a millennia before the intended revivification
process was supposed to begin. Stumbling through the halls of the tomb, trying in vain to avoid scarabs,
wraiths, and spyders, he had found a dimly lit room. In this he found what can only be described as
spectacular! This fringe world, this abandoned mining facility, this practically unguarded planet exile,
held something incredible. In this room he found slabs of metal. On the metal was a strange writing
that made no sense to Zanyn at the time. But retaining the boredom that came with his full mind, he
had nothing else to do except decode the slabs.

The world contained a secret, designed to look so useless that no one would even consider it worth
a second glance. This tomb contained all the cryptek research that had ever been recorded. It was a spy
room for every dynasties phaeron to know what their secretive harbingers were doing. The deathmark
drank in the knowledge of the slabs, augmenting his body to contain precise servo motors over the
strengthening or quickening ones of the more standard necron. He created the most powerful
infantry mounted weapon known to all, the tachyon destroyer, and a run of the mill staff of light
became the envy of many an overlord as the staff of blinding stars.

He trained himself in all the cryptek's strange powers for he was not bound by the laws of crypteks,
nor did he have a disciplined mind. This led to many accidental cave ins especially his work with
transmogrification. While using a particularly powerful seismic crucible, he had accidentally destroyed
his lords stasis chamber, and knowing the punishment waited out the time of revivification.

This is where Thaszar the invincible had come to power and Zanyn, realizing the canoptek creatures
uncanny behaviour, investigated. What he found horrified him. His once noble dynasty was starting to
wake up only to attack nearby necron worlds. Outraged he cut off his tombs master program, and gave
himself the temporary title of nemesor to try and take back the honor of his dynasty.

This story has not been edited so their may be some spelling and/or grammer errors, repetitive words and
phrases, and some holes in the plot. I apologize for all of the above if you find them, but please just leave them
be.

Still working on the fluff for the ICs in my DA, but here are thier names and where they come from:

Chapter Master: Yvain H'Tennek
>Yvain is the name of a fictional knight also known as the Knight of the Lion. H'Tennek is just my friends name backward, I started using it after my DA Grandmaster beat his Nightbringer.

Master of the Deathwing: Silas Ramiel
>Silas means "of forest and woods", I though appropriate based on the DA's original homeowrld of Caliban. Ramiel is the name of an angel that watches over though who are about to resurrect.

Master of the Ravenwing: Gabriel Sariel
>Gabriel is common DA name and Sariel is the name of one of the few benevolent angels of death.
