Wolf Guard are minimum 3 in a pack. I haven't really used assault cannon dreads before, the other options seemed much more appealing. TL autocannons are awesome, and I was fond of plasma cannons in 5th edition, especially on Venerable dreads because they scatter an inch less. With Gets Hot affecting vehicles now, I think that I will not be doing that again. Multi-melta is good for a Drop Pod Dread, gets you within the 1/2 distance. For the cost of that dread, you can get a full squad of Long Fangs with missile launchers. Multi-Melta Long Fangs are kind of one trick ponies, I prefer missile launchers, and even Las-cannons are more useful with their increased range. Everything else looks good.

You realy dont need the Wolf Guard Pack Leaders for a Pod List
What you might want to consider is taking the 2nd 8 man Grey Hunter pack and bring it up to full strength.
Dump the 1st Grey Hunter Pack, take your Master of Runes and what’s rest take Wolf Guard for your Rune Priest. Take 3 in Terminator Armor loaded with Combi-Weapons and maybe a Chain Fist or 2 or a couple of Storm Shields and take a 5th with the Cyclone and place him with your Long Fangs.

I retooled the list and forgot about the min req for the wolf guard, thanks for noticing. I've talked with some other plp about a MM dread and they said auto cannon was better with rending. I thought about running an extra long fang pack instead of the dread, but I figure the dread will be a magnet for soaking fire off the bat rather than other things.

Don't give a combi-melta to the rune priest. He won't get to shoot it when he uses his psychic powers.
Also...What do you need the chooser of the slain for? All all drop pod army doesn't need to worry about infiltrators and you really don't need a boost to your BS.
Lastly, runic armor instead of terminator armor. A terminator takes up 2 slots in the drop pod, but runic armor only 1.
Dump the 1st Grey Hunter Pack, take your Master of Runes ...
*sigh*. Don't take master of runes for 50 points if you could take another rune priest for 100. You'll still get to cast 2 powers but it will be harder for your opponent to kill 2 priests.

Here’s what the list is looking like now …. Thinking about swapping the dread’s assault cannon to a Multi-Melta (costs the same amount of points). Wanted to work in the Mark of the Wulfen with the Grey Hunter squads but didn’t have the points … i’m hoping a Wolf Guard with a Power Fist will be enough. Wolf Guard are in power armor now for assault grenades ... the terminator armor would make them more durable but with this list I think the latter is better (and cheaper point wise)
Space Wolves 1500 Point Drop Pod Army
1 Rune Priest, (Runic Armor) – 120 (Pack Leader for the 8 man unit)
(JOTWW, Living Lighting)
3 Wolf Guard (x3 Combi-Melta, x3 Power Fist) - 99 (Pack Leaders for the Grey Hunters)
8 Grey Hunters (Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Drop Pod) - 170
9 Grey Hunters (Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Drop Pod) – 185
9 Grey Hunters (Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Drop Pod) - 185
10 Grey Hunters (x2 Plasmagun, x1, Wolf Standard, Drop Pod) – 205
10 Grey Hunters (x2 Plasmagun, x1, Wolf Standard, Drop Pod) – 205
Dreadnought (Assault Cannon, Dreadnought Close Combat Weapon (with built in Heavy Flamer), Extra Armor, Drop Pod) - 165
Dreadnought (Assault Cannon, Dreadnought Close Combat Weapon (with built in Heavy Flamer), Extra Armor, Drop Pod) - 165
= 1499
Drop x2 Grey Hunter packs with Wolf Guard pack leaders and x2 Dreadnoughts at turn 1 (or a x1 dread and a plasma pack depending on whats on the table).
Wait for the Rune Priest pack to be dropped hopefully for a good JOTWW and the plasma packs near heavy infantry for rapid fire.
It’s a static delivery for reinforcements but it could throw people off depending on how its deployed and when. I really want to try to keep the drop pod theme.
The drop order could be adjusted to w/e depending on how they deploy but I think thats how it would work out the majority of the time (turn 1 JOTWW in the right spot could be interesting too)
Any other advice … its been really helpful so far

Right now the issue with your list is that your priest cant go in reserves as you have no other units on the table..unfortunately even though he is joining a unit in a pod he counts towards the 50% units allowed in reserve where all the drop pod units dont count towards that number.

Yes he can. Half rounded up is one, so his one RP can join a squad.

I was also under the impression (I may be wrong, been looking on forums for answers) that the half reserves rule states it doesn't count units that MUST come in from reserve, and it states that if it's a transport the unit inside doesn't count either. So any drop pods/units inside can be excluded from the "half your units" reserves limitation - since they are dedicated transports Automatically Appended Next Post: "The Basic Rule Book says that up to 50% of your army can be held in reserve. Further, units that MUST start the game in reserve do not count toward this percentage.
Drop Pods MUST start in reserve.
On page 124 it says “A unit and it’s Dedicated Transport are counted as a single unit for these purposes.” That is a key point.
Thus, my unit of Marines and their Drop Pod are one unit. Full stop. Period. The Drop Pod is required to start in reserve.
There is NO rule that says I need to separate the two. There is no rule that says I need to break them up. There IS a rule that says “a unit and it’s Dedicated Transport are counted as a single unit for these purposes.” GW is not being ambiguous about this point at all. My Marines and their Drop Pod are a single unit.
Thus, they start in reserve. They have to. The Drop Pod's rule dictates that they do. The same goes for all of the unit’s that I choose to give Drop Pods to."

I'm pretty sure those were with the old rules, I'm about to look through the new Rule Book and see if there were any changes.

I think this is a really solid list. I don't think it needs any changes, but
Just an idea...here is how you could get some MotW models and MM on your dread...
What if you got rid of the two drop pods that are with the plasmagun squads? They could deploy in your deployment zone near any objectives but out of line of site and / or in cover if possible. Then you would have 70 points to upgrade the other three squads with a MotW model each and exchange one dreadnought assault cannon for a multi-melta. Additionally, switch out one wolf guard combi-melta for a combi-plasma and one grey hunter meltagun for a plasmagun. Obviously, the combi-plamsa WG would lead that squad.
Set up that way, you would be able to drop three pods on turn one. Send in the dreadnought with the multi-melta and two grey hunter squads with meltaguns. They use their melta to destroy high valued armor. They will probably take serious casualties when your opponent responds, but that will buy time for your foot sloggers to move up a little.
When the rest of your pods come in, you they will be armed with plasma to deal with any infantry that spring up.
EDIT : This would have the added benefit of rendering the "you have too many units in reserve" argument completely moot.

I'm thinking if the drop pod numbers become an issue i can break a plasma squad down into a 5 man grey hunter squad and throw them into a razorback with a melta (the pts would be covered from converting the plasma gun into a melta / razor upgrade) .... they would just go and hold objs and bring the razors as a little bit of extra fire support and throw the remaining pts into mark of the wulfen for squads .... and if the other player doesnt have a problem with it just run the full pod list. - the MM and assault cannon cost the same amount of pts on the dread so I guess its just either or ... ill prolly keep the MM's on there and test it a few games with both.
Anyone have any other advice .... ive gained a ton of insight with the list since I started.
Thanks
