We played 1000 pts feeler game tonight. It was my 2nd game ever and his 1st....

A few things popped up that we could not find an answer for.

1. I hit a group of infantry in bulletproof cover:

a). We roll a 3+ sv for each hit base and anyone who fails then get the Firepower test from the BP cover. IE: On a roll of 6 the cover was useless and they die.

b). We skip the 3+ sv and go straight to the BP Cover save.

We must of re-read that phase of the book 9x to no avail. haha

2. Russians have a rule that all platoon checks etc are counted as a company. Even for deployment? So when we started he put his whole army down and then got a 1+ to see who goes first? Sounded odd to me but I know nothing about russians.

3. As with the same above rule, If I kill half a platoon, since it is counted as a platoon piece. how do you decide when to take a platoon check? Again Im asking on his behalf... He had 34 bases on the table, since he was saying it was all one platoon, I had to kill 17 bases total before he had to roll one time.

Whats the deal?

The Russians have a rule, quantity over quality which means you have to hit them 20 times before they are pinned if that helps. But killing 17 bases isn't enough, you would have to kill 18 before he has to roll for morale, more than half the platoon.

Russians are special, tell him to play as guards not conscript, conscript armies die far too easily! Also he should pad it out with SMG platoons supported with maksim HMG teams and transport them in on t 34's 76 mm for the 32" on the double move in turn 1, dismount behind the tanks or cover then shoot and assault in turn 2.

Doing this with enough platoons will overwhelm the enemy and bring victory for mother Russia!!!!!

Also some heavy assault guns and artillery to support, but not katashaya as they don't do much of anything even though they look good. Is - 2 gvardeysky tankovy company of 5 tanks will wipe out any infantry with big guns as infantry don't get a save against bunker busters and most tanks are nailed by these alo.

Back in the English morass

1, The answer is A unless you hit with gun with the bunkerbuster rule (or breakthrough gun, I can't remember which)

2. Its the other way round, Russian companies are counted as platoons and Russian battalions are counted as companies. Basically it makes no real difference in game terms..

3. If he has 34 bases in 1 platoon (ignoring independant teams like observers) then he will need to lose 18 bases before he starts rolling platoon morale checks.

Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

The answer to question 1 is A. If they went straight to the BP cover save at 5+ it would be pointless to hide units behind BP cover. They would always just use their 3+ infantry save.

Thanks for the answers fellas!

After doing some reading online I got the answers eventually.

Glad to be on the right track. I think we got everything else right, which is great as this game is quite fast to learn.

Now I can go take 4 months to get the hang of 6E rules for 40k lol....
