I'm relatively new to 40k, and many of the models i own are the ones that I find look the coolest; I guess that's why i like Blood Angels so much... but moving on. I'm really into the Sanguinary Guard and their stats. They seem like a really powerful unit that looks like they would be a nice addition in any BA list, but what's the best way I should use them? considering they cost 200 pts for five guys.

Here's an 1850 point sanguinary guard list I'm thinking of making....

HQ: Dante - 225 points

Elite - 5 man Terminator Squad (4x hammers, 1x claw) - 220 pts
Elite - 5 man Terminator Squad (4x hammers, 1x claw) - 220 pts
Elite - Sanguinary Priest (power ax, melta bombs, jump pack) - 95 pts

Troops - 5 man Sanguinary Guard squad (banner, infernus pistol, power fist) - 250 pts
Troops - 5 man Sanguinary Guard squad (infernus pistol, power fist) - 220 pts
Troops - 5 man Sanguinary Guard squad (infernus pistol, power fist) - 220 pts

Heavy - Stormraven (TL Multimelta, TL Lascannon) - 200 pts
Heavy - Stormraven (TL Multimelta, TL Lascannon) - 200 pts

Dante chills in the squad with the banner and priest... you jump up towards the enemy in cover, relying on cover saves, 2+ armor, and FNP to keep you alive. When the terminators come riding the stormravens, you assault the enemy and kill him

Depending on what your termies are going against, you might want to try more lightning claws in 1 squad. Ive tasted full squad lightning claws with a Chaplain a few times, and its fething brutal

My buddy uses a butt ton of death company. They come jumping out of stormravens and landraiders. His primary goal is troop wipe into board wipe. He also has an assault squad he combat squads for objetive games. Not the best strat I suppose but he enjoys it and I laugh when I play against it. Good times all around.

I need to return some video tapes.

If you're using them as a single unit, they're best used as a precise strike unit. Deep Strike them in against something that your normal troops will struggle with. A couple of things to consider - don't send them against units with a 2+ save as they'll get bogged down (depending on how the Glaive Encarmine wording plays out as to their AP value, but that's another story). Likewise, they do well against units with power swords that would trouble other Marines, because of their advanced save.
They do very well with Dante thanks to not scattering, and the extra punch that his higher BS Infernus pistol brings.

If you want to run an army of them under Dante, then make sure you kit out each unit so that it can deal with different kinds of threat. Typically that means a fist and an Infernus pistol in the unit as well. Make sure you have the Chapter banner in one unit, and if you can afford him, the Sanguinor too, as by default you don't have a lot of attacks for dealing with bigger mobs or multiple wound units like Nobz. Lastly make sure you take enough Priests to cover your entire force, as 2+ with FNP on top will protect your limited numbers the best.

They are over priced but that is not usually a reason not have something. Then the guard just make your army unbalanced either enemies can deal with 2+ armour or they can not.

I would seriously recommend honour guard which are awesome and can be given the sang. guard wings instead of jump packs if you like the look.
