Hey!

First of I should say that anyone who has been following the 'muddy times' blog will probably be disappointed with my level of painting as this is my time painting warhammer after a near 10 year break :p

Nonetheless I think having a paint blog will keep me a bit more inspired to get through the lets be honest fairly monotonous task of painting up a IG army.

anyway, first batch of 8 is done!

The bases need another layer of mud and then I will paint them brown as they are too dark and then add a touch of glossy varnish to make the mud look a bit wetter.

Any advice or tips are always welcome

Ok so 12 men done now, and all bases finished too!

unfortunately the purity seal kinda ruined the weathering on the coats :(

Great looking squad, but what do you mean with the purity seal ruined the weathering?
I think the mud on the clothes looks especially good, although I think the muddy bases might look a tad bit overdone in the second picture, but I'm not sure if it's just the lighting.
I might do a DKoK squad or two at some point to field with the rest of my IG army, and this sure is inspiring!

Well I used 3 weathering powders because I wanted a really nice gradient on the mud on the coats - dry mud at the top then medium earth in the middle and fresh mud around the bottom and on the boots.. But with the purity seal it all looks the same colour!

Yeah I am still not sure about the bases, they dont look quite so over the top in real life but I think perhaps I should have purity sealed them instead of going for the glossy ardcoat :/

Cheers

Looking really good here tabby, I also have been inspired by muddy times, but I don't think you should be so hard on yourself, your mud looks just as good! I like how the masks have been painted, helps them stand out. As for the purity seal problem, I know your pain, you spend forever on a damn mini and purity seal and all the colours and effects change, can be very frustrating! anyway, keep it up, look forwards to see some more!

Cheers Guys!

I am rewarding myself with a few heavy weapons teams next, already got the barbed wire and sandbags ready and I think it should look pretty sweet
