I am looking for Space Marine Shoulders that are perfectly smooth. Basically like the regular ones but no "outer lip". I am going to be using them for Neophytes, thanks!

i think the only ones you will find are the studded MKVI pads...
you should be able to carve away the outer rim on your plastics quite easily though...

I would either try and carve the lip off or find another way to distinguish neophytes.

What I do (since scouts are expensive) is I make normal marines and then paint the outer part of the base white.

This way both my opponent and I can see that the model is different.

Howver if you do have the money you can just use scout models.

I'd just file down the rim on normal pads. With a decent file, it should take less than a minute per pad to get smooth, clean results. Much better than grinding or carving it down, I'd wager.

I'd probably pretend it's a giant mould line and use the back of my knife. You'd be surprised how much material you can remove in half a dozen strokes just scraping it away.
