Subject: Stunned Flier switching to Hover?

This happened a few weeks back and just popped into my head now. I'm at work, so no rule book handy.
My Stormraven zooms onto board 18 inches and shoots. Opponents turn comes round, lottos a 6 to hit with a melta, pens and rolls up a stun result (Has to move 18 inches in a straight line).
Back to my next turn. Is it OK to drop Stormraven into hover mode (making it a fast skimmer), and maintain the stun result for a fast skimmer (can't move, only fires snap IIRC), or does must move 18 take precedence?
Im assuming its OK, as its my turn and on your own turn you can choose the order things that go off at the same time go off at (i.e. convert to hover mode before making the compulsory move), but just want to check this was played correctly.

No, I don't think you can do this.
Because the Stunned was suffered when you were a Zooming Flyer, you have to follow those stunned rules, which mandate you must move forward 18 inches and not turn.
Since a Hovering Flyer isn't eligible to move 18 inches, you can't switch into Hover mode.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

When you have locked velocity you cannot change flight modes.

There isn't anything preventing the move to hover though, and once you do, the stunned rule changes what it means

Whilst true, locked velocity comes from imobilised results not from stunned ones. Given that it explicitly states that you can't change modes after you suffer an imobilised, but doesnt explicitly state that you can't after a stunned, it suggests that you are OK to change modes after a stunned.

I disagree with that, when you suffered the stunned result is what determines what the stunned result means, not some arbitrary point in time much later than that.

I can see either argument - the thing is definitely stunned, and the type of vehicle effects what the stunned result does. It's just a bit problematic as there's nothing that prevents the vehicle changing type.
I've had a bit of a google and it seems it's a question that's come up in a few places with no definite resolution.
Hopefully someone from GW sees and Faqs it!

RAW is you can change from zooming to hover mode as the stunned result to a zooming flyer just says that the zooming flyer's speed is locked. A skimmer that is stunned has it's rule.
Thus, a vehicle that can switch modes can freely do so in RAW, but you are stunned either way. As a skimmer, not moving / shooting... as a flyer, moving at the same speed and shooting but as per flyer stunned... etc.
In our games, there are pros and cons for going into hover as you forgo all shooting and now can be hit much easier, even charged... on the other hand, a locked speed could put you in an undesirable location with no targets that you wanted to shoot at... so, very mixed bag of goods.
Cheers,
