Why does Minecraft hate my computer?

So, I installed minecraf quite happily a while ago and played it a lot. Maybe not as much as others, but a lot nonetheless.

Until recently.

Before the 1.3.1 release I was meant to be part of a survival games lets play, but I could not connect at all, for no apparent reason. We chalked it down to luck and moved on. Later, a lot of websites would not connect for no apparent reason. I tried lots of websites, some worked and some didn't. I used different browsers, even Internet Explorer. No luck. Reformatted it, and suddenly it was fine. I started reinstalling programs, including Minecraft. Internet goes again. almost straight after. In the end, a cleanup of the registry sorted the problem out, but (as you might have guessed) also deleted Minecraft from my system. I'm guessing that it is Minecraft that is causing the problem, but I can't figure out why. Can anyone help?

Well what computer do you have apple mac?

Nope, HP G56, running windows 7. It should be able to do the job, and I played it for a fair while before it started killing my internet. I've tried it with minimal stuff installed and with lots of things installed (games mostly). I don't know what could be causing it, and that's what I want to know.

If your internet browser was also having problems then it is unlikely that MC was causing it, could be something with your internet or the firewall
I suggest checking the latter.

I get problems like that on everyday basis, but thats what i get for living in the middle of nowhere in a country like ireland...

For example my main internet stopped working recently, so i plugged in my phone sim card into the modem. i should have "unlimited internet access" but the only websites i can launch are dakka (yay!

) google and few others, but the rest load up for a few minutes.

Minecraft is the only thing i can attest it to sadly (it doesn't make sense to me either.)

I use AVG registry cleanup, Minecraft vanishes (as well as other stuff), internet lives again after a restart. Reinstall Minecraft and internet goes off in exactly the same way.

Having said that, I tried another computer in the house and that was acting up in the same way, but didn't have Minecraft. Yes, I am very confused, as this would suggest it isn't Minecraft, but I don't know what else it would be.

Suggestions anyone?

So the other computer had no MC on it but still the problem persisted?
What kind of internet do you have?

BT Broadband. One was connected with via Ethernet cable, the other wireless.

Yeah, logic says MC isn't the problem, also says it IS the problem.

Well i doubt then that MC is the problem, its probably something with with your internet.
I suggest turning ALL of your firewall software for a min and trying to load one of the sites that dont work.

Try a different client? Technic has a vanilla launcher built in, and Spoutcraft launches it too.

MC is unlikely to be the cause.

But my internet only goes after I have downloaded it. It isn't the download process as far as I know because other files download just fine without doing anything.

Maybe the machine spirit just doesn't like MC?

When was the last time a tech-priest blessed your machine?

Try restarting your modem or whatever you have.

lol wtf after downloading the new patch i seem to have the same problem, cant open some websites and some open half-fully.

Hmm, weird. I found I couldn't load Dakka at all with it.
