Hey everyone! This is my first ever battle report. My friends and I play friendly games once a week or so and have yet to enter a store to play. Afraid of getting our butts whupped

. At any rate, I wanted to try my hand at making a battle report. This is both for the good people of dakkadakka and my other friends. I didn't quite take as many pictures as I needed, nor were they particularly good. But that's part of the fun, learning and getting better!
At any rate, this is a 2000 point game of my Infantry Imperial Guard versus my brother's Eldar+Dark Eldar. He actually doesn't have enough points of Dark Eldar yet to fill a full match so we still let him take Eldar to fill em up. His army isn't finely crafted yet as his Dark Eldar are coming along slowly due to lack of funds. The game ended up being The Relic.
My list was
HQ Command w/ 1 Bodyguard, Creed. 3 Plasma guns, 1 medic
Lord Commissar w/ Power Fist, carapace
6 Storm Troopers w/ two plasma guns
Veteran Squad w/ 3 meltas, demolitions, power sword plasma pistol sergeant
Flamer Command Squad. 3 flamers, 1 heavy flamer
Sniper Command. 4 sniper rifles
Blob Squad. 4 Infantry Squads, 4 heavy bolters, 4 power weapon sergeants, 4 grenade launchers
Infantry squad w/ flamer, sergeant with plasma pistol, power sword
Infantry squad w/ melta, missle launcher
Infantry Squad w/ Grenade launcher, heavy bolter
Infantry squad w/ Missle launcher, grenade
Infantry squad w/ missle launcher, flamer
Heavy weapon squad, Mortars
Penal Legionaires
Bastion
Manticore
Vendetta
I just got Creed and wanted to try out something very different. I tried to take as few vehicles as possible and spammed the infantry. Worked out pretty well, though I don't know if I really had enough firepower.
My brother's list.
Drazhar
Eldrad
5 Incubi
10 Striking Scorpions
10 Wyches
8 Wrack s
2 Raiders
8 Trueborn
10 Dark Eldar Warriors
3 Reavers
5 Eldar Pathfinders
2 Squads of 10 Eldar Guardians
Eldar Falcon
2 Eldar Vypers
Here's our initial battlefield with the terrain and my watchtower set up. The main objective is in the middle, whoever holds it at the end will win! They can move with it but not very fast.

My brother deployed and went first. Wyches are in the raider on the east side of the field, Drazhar, Eldrad, and Incubi in the one in the middle. Striking scorpions in reserves to outflank!

My sniper command squad is inside of the Tower manning the heavy bolters. I have a squad of infantry in my outflanking Vendetta gunship, some outflanking Penis (Penal) legionnaires, an outflanking veteran squad with meltaguns, and some outflanking storm troopers. Lots of men trying to flank the enemy! That's the plan according to Lord Creed.

My brother started his first turn with some fancy psychic work from Eldrad Fortuning his transport and the nearby falconing as well as Guiding the Falcon. His soldiers advance across the field at a pretty steady rate and open fire. Both of his guardian squads in the west open up hostilities with their long range scatter lasers, zapping the large blob squad of infantry. They take a single wound, followed by another four from the two Jetbike Vypers who also wield laser beams of death. His snipers take careful aim of an infantry squad in the open...and fail to hit any of them! His Reaver bikes in the east fire their splinter cannons at the squad in the ruins but fail to hit as well. Making up for this lack of luck, his Falcon Grav-Tank fires its bright lance at my Tower, causing a structural collapse of the roof! The snipers inside are crushed to death before they realize what happens. Creed and his command squad leap off the tower to escape. Creed takes a wound from a broken leg, and his bodyguard decides to land on his head which does not work out well. The medic works hard to keep the rest from being wounded.
At this point, the field looks like this.

Time for retaliation!
My soldiers advance forward slowly. Lord Creed barks out a flurry of orders and the soldiers hasten to obey. He orders the blob of forty men to bring the Vyper down and their grenade launchers launch krak rounds at it till it explodes. He drills his own soldiers to blaze their plasma guns at the nearby transport Raider but its night shields throw them off. The rest of the squads around him he bellows at to get moving if they wanted to live to see the next day. The Manticore Artillery launches one of its devastating storm eagle missiles into the Falcon Tank, shaking the crew and crushing seven guardians near it. The mortar team hiding behind the hill snipe out a dark eldar warrior. The squad in the ruins in the east let their missle launchers fly and wipe out two of the three dark eldar jetbikes, ending my turn.

My brothers second turn begins with the Striking Scorpions arriving on the west field and my brother realizing outflankers can't assault anymore. Which is stupid.

Eldrad dooms the giant blob squad, fortunes his own squad and fortunes his Raider ride. Abusing fortune as ever. His soldiers advance up the field again and both of his raiders disembark their deadly cargo; Drazhar and his crew ready to charge the mass of men in the west and the Wyches in the east charging into the ruins.

The Eldar force unleashes a torrent of fire at the blob squad to weaken them down to a more reasonable size. The Striking Scorpions kill three with their pistols, the Vyper wipes out three, and Drazhar throws a plasma grenade into their masses for another two kills. The guardians fail to get a kill due to the guardsman excellent knack for hugging cover. The remaining Reaver Jetbike in the east throws out a shot with its heat lance at my Manticore artillery and stuns it. Raiders fire to finish off the Manticore but fail to penetrate. The monstrous Wracks move forward and liquify two soldiers with their guns, melting them into mush. His Dark Eldar warriors and Trueborn kill off another four. The pathfinders attempt to finish off a squad but can't manage to get a hit that the lone sergeant can't dodge! But then it is time to charge! The wyches in the east charge the squad in the ruins though the guardsman hurriedly let off a missile launcher to one of the Wyche's face and incinerate another two with their flamethrower. However, the basic humans are no match for the battle hardened, agile wyches and are cut to pieces! The wyches gain Ecstasy from the battle and move towards their transport again.

In the west, his elite squad of Incubi and the master of blade Drazhar charge the thirty or so soldiers left, with Eldrad's 2+ rerollable armor ignoring their puny guns. One sergeant heroically challenges Eldrad to hold him off for a time and is killed for his trouble. The soldiers manage to kill a single incubi and lose at least five of them. Drazhar kills four on his own, completely surrounded by enemies. Lord Commissar Alexander is their only hope with his power fist but he fails to get a hit through Drazhar's defenses!

Reinforcements thankfully arrive to begin my turn! My gunship comes in to the east in a hail of lascannon fire. Storm troopers arrive in the west to fire upon the striking scorpions, and my melta gun squad appears behind the guardians for ambush!

Creed attempts to display some of his cunning battle strategy once more, but suffers a critical failure of communication and no orders are given for the rest of the turn! The mortar squad hidden in the back lets loose a retribution barrage that downs three of the wyches. The Vendetta gunship fires its powerful anti-tank lascannons at the raider in the middle and gets two glancing blows, and Creed's squad piggybacks their plasma guns on the momentum to finish it off! The Storm troopers let loose an impressive salvo of plasma and hot lasfire that downs 5 strikging scorpions, while the Veteran squad only kills three guardians. The infantry in the center of the map pour their fire into the wracks, killing...one, but the flamethrowers are let loose and down another three in cleansing flames. In close combat, the incubi and Drazhar finish off the rest of the guardsman with their wicked blades, leaving only a single sergeant
and Alexander alive. The Lord Commissar himself manages to put a single wound on the Master of Blades with his powerful fist. At this point, the lone sergeant's resolve weakens and he flees but does not run fast enough to escape a bullet in his head. Cowardice will not be tolerated by Alexander.

Now begins turn 3, or as I like to call it, the beginning of the end for the forces of man. My brother's wyches hop aboard their transport and zoom in closer. His guardians swing around to deal with the threat behind them, and his scorpions charge out of the woods like angry wasps to sting the stormtroopers. His Falcon tank and the Raider still alive fire at the aircraft but fail to hit its fast hull. The guardians fire their close range shuriken catapults in a barrage of death that slays six of the unfortunate veteran squad, including their sergeant. The snipers in the rocks once again fire their rifles to no effect. The Vyper repositions itself and fires its laser at the mortar squad, slaying a team. The Dark Eldar Trueborn let loose their poisoned guns and kill six guardsman who go to ground to try and salvage some of the damage. The grotesque wracks point their liquifier gun at the flamethrower squad and wipe them to a single heavy flamer who somehow manages to hold his ground as all die around him. The scorpions fire their pistols as they charge the storm troopers and slay them to a man. The guardians charge the remaining vets and kill one man while losing one of their own. Lord Commissar Alexander challenges Drazhar to single combat whilst the incubi sharpen their blades and look on. Drazhar causes a slew of wounds, but Alexander's Retractor field acts as a force field and manages to deflect all of the blows! (Whew 5+!). In return, Drazhar gets another power fist for his trouble.

My turn comes and my Penal Legionairres decide to show up conveniently across the battlefield in the middle of nowhere. Creed barks out an order for them to move double time, but they're not likely to get anywhere anytime soon. Creed's own squad repositions and finishes off the Dark Eldar Reaver bike. The gunship flies forward and only manages to get a glance on the Falcon with some amazingly poor luck. The Manticore comes through with its missile barrage however and annihilates four trueborn warriors while the mortar team kills two base warriors. The lone heavy flamer shows some testicular fortitude and heads into the Dark Eldar lines alone, incinerating three of them. The rest of my infantry pour their fire to finish off the Wracks in the middle. Drazhar and Alexander go another round, but Drazhar shifts his weapons into a massive two hander and instant deaths Alexander. Meanwhile, his guardian squad in close combat finishes off the veterans.

Turn four is the last turn of the game. Eldrad casts fortune on his own squad, and dooms both Creed's Command Squad and the infantry squad on the hill. His Dark Eldar warrior squad of three grabs the Relic (Oh there's an objective? I had forgotten too

). His snipers prove their bullets are made of tissue paper once again as they fail to cause a single wound on the legionaiires. His Vyper on the other hand wrecks my Manticore with its laser while his guardian's fire their lasers into my guardsmen. Drazhar and friends annihilate another squad of infantry in close combat whilst his Wyches pop out of their transport and charge Creed's squad. Creed's squad lets loose a quick round of plasma...that kills one wych and overheats to kill two guardsmen. Ouch. Creed himself challenges the Wych sergeant and is cut to pieces by her. At which point, his army loses hope and surrenders.
It was a fun game! We both played some weird armies and had a pretty good time playing them. I feel like a standard objective game would have worked better for my army as I wouldn't have had to charge up the middle with a bunch of infantry ill suited for it. I could have played better, but thankfully the dice rolls seemed fairly even, though I wish my bastion hadn't exploded so quickly. Ah well. Thanks for reading my terrible battle report, I'll do a better job at writing and taking pictures next time!
