My bud likes the Screamers for the assault value they add to his Tzeentch daemon army, but wasn't about to pay the bucks for 27 of them.
What he did was to combine toothpicks and two bases, glued together per Screamer(disk). He then painted and decaled them and mounted everything on a flying stand to get some old school looking disks of Tzeentch from Rouge Trader days.
His total investment for the project was more in time to get them looking good than money. I think it was a total of $20 he spent for the units he wanted, and everything that went into the project, except for the toothpicks, was GW components.
I'm knocking the idea around with him of using sprues, bases, and some green stuff sculpting to create Horrors, Heralds on chariots, and Flamers to make a complete, tournament legal, Tzeentch army.

Fair point, I'll see about getting some. We figured it would be about $1,000 to build the army buying all the miniatures, but since he's a pretty decent sculpter that can cast better than GW, we'll be in for about $200 or less.
