Things have changed, as you can guess.
Rhinos are no longer auto-include, unless you want to give up a free victory point via the enemy's First Blood. If you do take rhinos, they can move up to 18" if you don't shoot... So if you had them before, they are just as good.
Obliterators don't need to be in cover unless it's 4+, as they can just walk 6" in the open because of new S&P.
Termicide is even better, since reserves arrive on 3+ at turn 2, and come in automatically by turn 4. No more waiting until turn 5 for 3 combi-meltas...
'Zerkers are still nice, but are no longer I5 on the charge so I think Plague Marines beat them now.
Defilers are durable to glances, and are still best when taken in pairs.
Melta is no longer the big boy.. It's gotta be plasma. If you can double up (or 5-up) on plas, do so because of the new Rapid Fire rules.
All in all, I'd say here's the new chaos lists
-Lash/Oblits are still in
-Epidemus with Plague Marine allies (or the other way around) seems to be popular, though it has some glaring weaknesses once it's head gets cut off.
Thousand Sons spam with Fateweaver seems to work on (personal experience), and Mastery Level 2 access by way of a CSM Troops choice is just too good NOT to use. Hallucination on Gazzy and 30 boyz? Yes please. go ahead and stand there for 2 turns (for example).
It seems to me that CSM lists in 5th do not need to undergo much change to "be better" in 6th. Rather, the codex in general got a few random boosts and I'd say we are more functional than we have been in years.
Good luck. Automatically Appended Next Post: PS- On Berzerkers, you can no longer dismount your rhino and charge. Land Raiders are king for them.
