Hi folks,
Just had a thought for the dreaded 'Look Out Sir' could be made more simple and less clumbersome:

When the hits have been allocated, but before wounds are rolled, simultaniously perform all Look Out Sir actions for the unit: Choose the model you want to take the hit for your character; instead of rolling a D6 as normal, perform a Ld test using the base Ld of that model. If successful, swap postition between the character and another model in that unit within 6" that can accomodate the character in its space. Once rolled, it cannot be performed again for that character until the shooting sub phase is completed.

The fluff behind this is that the Ld represents the authority or inspiring presence of the character (the squad will be less likely to lay their lives down for someone who isn't much of a leader), and fearless units wouldn't think twice.

Rules wise, it makes more sence - since it is typically the squad protecting the character, not a line of synchronised divers leaping to take each bullet in sequence. Also, while it still serves the purpose of a mechanic of protecting characters, you no longer have the wound schenegans and choosing what shots to take like the Character is at a buffet (which IMO really takes away the cinematic realism that this game is striving for)

What are everyone's oppinions on this?

You don't think a few space marines would throw themselves infront of a Captain or Librarian to save him from a Lascannon shot? Or that an Ork Warboss wouldn't hold Boyz infront of him to prevent him from being shot to bits?

It works fine as it is. If you make it a Leadership test, fearless mobs of Orks will beable to protect a Nob indefinately, while Space Marines won't throw themselves in front of their honored Veteran Sergeant?

Is there a permanent stickied thread for Chaos players to complain every time someone/anyone gets models or rules besides them? If not, there should be.

This. Also it isn't any simpler.

I'm sure they would want to, but I'm not aware of an enemy sporting enough to allow the marines to jump in front of the Librarian one at a time. Without it looking like a skit.

What they WOULD do is either pull him back or rush in front of him for a wall of bodies to take the barrage of fire. What currently happens on the tabletop is not what the cinematics describe, not to mention the abuse thats come about...
