As anyone who has seen my previous dakka posts will tell you i love to get Catachan jungle fighters doing things a little differently. This started with my Cold One riders and my Baneblade but i also had an idea of making a catachan Storm Talon. So bought one and began to green stuff the pilots legs to look more like combat trousers than power armour.I also used a few bits from my bits box for the pilot controls, this involved cutting a rifle off a catachan arm and then using a chaos marauder arm too.
Anyway these are the first pics i've took, the mini is now finished so i'll get some more pics up as soon as i get some batteries for my camera(hopefully today damn i hate going to tesco)

Very cool!
Maybe you might want to consider doing the cockpit kinda like a scout sentinel? Seems more like a catachan support to me then a closed one? Just a thought...
Either way, looks awesome.

Awesome job! I second the scout open style cockpit! Also, just a thought, the paint job almost reminds me of He-Man's battlecat but in a good way! A good jungle cat motif!

Beautiful man really. Clean job, nice light effects and nice camo too.
Oh and base is awesome, quite dirty as it should be.
But one question for me... Apart from collectors use, how can it be used?
Apocalypse?

What do you plan to field this as? Vendetta? Or as itself as part of an "allied" detachment?

The OSL seems uneven in places (more lighting on one side of the source than the other side), in theory it should "bloom" away from the source in a circular fashion, that is, if not obscured and casting shadows.

As far as the base goes there doesn't seem to be much going on aside from a lost track section and bipod in the mud. If it were a muddy battlefield there would be tire/tank tracks left in the mud, as well as foot prints.

There's a shovel, but no evidence of a hole or pile of dirt, so what was that soldier doing with the shovel? There's also no evidence of the soldier being there (footprints).
When doing a base like mud (or snow) that leaves a lasting impression you need to think of a scenario to go with it, even if its just as simple as a set of foot prints walking across it. This can easily be done by taking a model you haven't painted yet and making indentations with the feet in the soft medium. Don't forget to alternate left and right feet. Tank tracks can be done in the same manner, by taking a section of track, pressing it in, removing it, and then lining up a second impression so that it continues the first.

Outside of that, my only critique would be that the mud is a little monotone. Give it a wash with a secondary earth tone, and maybe throw in a few stones. Ballast used for laying model railroad tracks is great for this if you don't feel like going outside and scrounging for pebbles.

Difficult to add, given the Talon's layout, unless you can manage something on the assault cannon pod perhaps? Or eyes and/or toothed mouths could look good on the side of the missile pods?

Very cool, in fact I prefer this vehicle as a catachan flyer. I neer really liked it as a SM vehicle, but it fits perfectly here.

Nice paint job, I like the base too.

I must also agree that an open-cockpit would be the finishing touch!

Good job.

Love the model and the paint job. The base does need foot prints. Also Muddy base needs mud puddles. Try a little "very watered down graveyard earth" and mix it into water effects. Perhaps add a little into the foot prints to give the Illusion of rain. Just a thought. Great stuff you got there!!

Just forgot what I was going to say.

I've never used water effects,i get the shiny effect by using ardcoat.Rest assured the base is going to get another try.

Very awesome, except for one thing...its opinion of course but not feeling the OSL at all. Really I rarely like it. I know its the current in thing to do, but Im not a fan at all. Its extremely hard to get to look right, Ive only seen a few on here pull it off, and if done wrong its really bad.

Other than that its an awesome looking model. Cool conversion and the rest of the weathering/damage/etc is well done.
