Where is this affinity for plasma coming from? I have not noticed anything in the last codex or the fluff I've read so far.

Can someone enlighten me about this?

Thanks.

Some Throne-Forsaken Battlefield on the other side of the Galaxy

They just maintained a lot of such weapons from when plasma was commonplace, I think.

The thing about DA is ancient pasts, conspiracies, and ancient tech that is personally built within their deep dark fortress..

The problem is, Jervis interpreted this as giving them only one jetbike for a SC, terminator troops (Which isn't uncommon anymore), and tons of plasma..Which gets integrated into C:SM anyways..

To my recollection it was based on the Codex: DA of about two versions prior to the current one.

They were the only marines who could take plasma cannons in their tacticals... The fluffy reason given was that the DA had access to more ancient tech than others.

That of course has been blown up by the black hole that is Codex: SM. You may give something to one chapter but eventually the gravitational pull that is the Ultramarines will lay claim to everything that used to be unique about your chapter.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

They used to be the only codex with Plasma cannons on infantry. And they had plasma for cheaper then everyone else.

Fluffwise, its because their Legion didn't lose as much equipment during the Heresy and so they had more of the valuable stuff when it was all over.

I'm sure the new codex will fix this issue.

The world didn't begin in 1998, you know. Codex: Ultramarines for 2nd ed. allowed their Tactical Marines to carry Plasma Cannons (and allowed dual-heavy weapon Dreadnoughts); the only codex to "lay claim" to something previously allowed to to others was Dark Angels 3rd ed.
