Subject: Anyone remember getting AOL cds in the mail constantly?
Wow takes me waaaay back there in the good ole days of computers. Well actually just after that. Truth is before internet became a household word you could literally find information on anything online.
Web pages were 100% text, and loaded instantly even on dial-up, and the government didn't have their icky rules and regulations all over the place.
Thats a good use for them though AOL sucked bad, we use to use them for targets, or just to throw them at people like ninja stars, etc. lol
Really though that a good cheap idea for a small round terrain base. I have a ton of old useless CD's lying around I might have to do something with now.

Back when you had to endure this terrible noise before getting on the internet? Yeah I got AOL disks constantly, and I usually saved them up so I could blow them up on the 4th of July. Now I get so little physical mail that three days of the week there's nothing at all.
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

The old AOL CDs have long since been trashed, but I had a buddy that worked tech support for a school district, so I got a box full of other assorted useless disks. I've tossed around various plans to use them up, but so far I've only used a handful as bases for some simple (read: "early and, therefore, crude attempts at") round craters.
CDs also happen to be 5" across - perfect for serving as stiff backings to certain printable templates, or for painting your own replacements. 40K only requires one 5" blast, but for Infinity, for example, it's nice to be able to have multiple smoke templates on the table and still fire a missile or toss a grenade.
