If Zahndrekh gives Obyron counter attack while he is in a different unit, and then Zahndrekh gets assaulted, would Obyrons counter attack trigger once he teleports into combat? I know it is Zahndrekh's unit being assaulted but upon getting into close combat Obyron IMMEDIATELY joins his unit.

No, as Vargard Obyron does not join Zahndrekh's unit.
Instead, he immediately piles in to the combat, major difference.
So Vargard Obyron has not been target of a Charge and thus cannot benefit from Counter-Attack.

This sounds utterly silly, but I can't seem to word a good argument against it. The answer should be no, but it is probably yes.
