I am just starting a space wolf army and like most people really can't afford this game. So I'm trying to make sure i don't make anything that i won't be using in the long run. I have a box of space wolf infantry that can be made into GH, BC and Wolf Guard. I have access to plenty of tactical marines that I think I can convert pretty easy to space wolves using bits I have and I'm sure Blood Claws are on of those things that I won't ever use in the long run. My question is if there are good uses for Wolf Guard with out terminator armor (As I have termis to front my GH squads) or if I should just build more GH.

On a second note, I love Thunderwolf Calvary and plan to get a second box soon. Do any of you guys field them and how do you use them?

You can never go wrong with more Grey Hunters - You need one pack for each 500 points of the game, so in average You need 30-40 of them. Each pack should include one model with Wolf Standard and one model with Mark of the Wulfen. The rest in this edition is pretty much up to your meta-game. 5th edition was all about meltas, now everbody is putting in some plasmaguns here and there. If You are taking WG as terminators to lead GH, then You probably do not need them in power armor now - they used to lead Grey Hunters in PA with combimeltas and power fists in 5th.
Another thing which You will need in the psyker dominated 6th edition is a Rune Priest or two. I'd advise You to wait on thunderwolves since they are both expensive in terms of points and money and need some tweaking of the list.
Yeah, and finally, get two-three packs of Long Fangs, most of them with missile launchers.

Looking to trade away 15mm Forged in Battle Pumas (still in the box).

You may be able to create a reasonable rune priest with your parts.
Also leave some parts for the long fangs.

The other question you should ask is weapon set up on the grey hunters.
I would buy a pack of meltaguns from GW.

Meltas, standards, powerswords and mark of wulfen are probably good to have in a grey hunter squad.
Then you may want a wolf guard with some cc weapon and combimelta to lead each grey hunter squad.

This rule isn't current, you just have to take 2 compulsory troops choices, and the HQ obviously. Having said that, you're completely right in that you can never go wrong with more GH's! Also agree bout standard and MotW.

Also agree about RP's and LF's, both fantastic units. Thunderwolves really come into their own in larger games, so I'd save getting more of them until later. I usually just run them in packs of three with a stormshield and power weapon tossed in, 195pts. You can mix them with a Wolf Lord in a Thunderwolf if you like :p.

A real deathstar unit can be 5 WG termies in a land raider with Logan, but you're sinking 750 points into that lol.

Back in the day, we were epic Space Vikings with horns, and beer, and stupid mockney accents, and we didn't have any truck with this flying around like a pansy shizzle. We certainly didn't surround ourselves with mangy animals.

Now we're basically the Bestiality Chapter.

We also now ride chariots and employ daemonic dreadnoughts...also, we fly and teleport with abandon. With wolves.

Thanks for the help everybody! I'm really excited to get more into this army! I've never had a power armor army before (nids and eldar) so I feel like I'm saving EVERYTHING! I will definitely check out the long fangs
