Hello

Recently, I have been thinking about building an Imperial Guard Armoured Battlegroup Army and was looking at the Annihilator. (TL Las turret).
As it isn't included in the GW kit, I was thinking about using the FW ryza pattern turret, however I am not sure that it fits the current kit, as I don't
want the entire company to have Ryza pattern hulls.
So really, my question is, does this turret fit the current GW hull, and if not, how do you make it fit?

Thanks

Does it really matter if it fits the current hull? The old LRBTs can be picked up off eBay for disgustingly cheap.

Must be some other eBay than the one I look at.

On Nimbosa, cramming as many guardsmen into troop carriers as possible.

Just use green stuff on the the twin linked auto cannons that come with the current one.

I have both the old and new style Leman Russ, a FW Vanquisher and a FW Executioner turret, FW Russ turrets fit the older style tank but wouldn't fit the newer Russ released a few years ago. The older Russ has a large turret ring that the FW turret slots into; its basically a large disc about 5-6mm thick on the turret underside, the newer Russ has a much smaller turret ring so won't accept the FW turrets like the Annihilator unless you completely remove the disc and glue a bit of plastic tube or something similar to the turret to fit the smaller turret ring. Or if you don't want to shell out on an Annihilator turret then yeah as psychadelicmime says, you could make the twin Annihilator lascannons out of the Exterminator pattern autocannons included in the kit, just replace the autocannon muzzles with lascannon cowlings. Personally, i prefer the older Russ kit, although the old and new tank chassis' are virtually identical, i haven't really warmed to the newer style plastic turret, but each to their own!

When you order the turret it will fit the current model leman russ and the old variant. It comes with a piece to widen the bottom peg to fit the russ that's turret mount is larger.

I have a bunch of their turrets and 3 old russes and 3 new ones, wasn't a problem.

If you are interested in building and of the plasma russes lemme know, I have two of the FW plasma turrets new in the bag.

I have a total of six FW turrets, all of which can be designed to work for both old and newer model leman russes and I got most of these 2 years ago, so not sure when you got yours but I can tell you they do indeed work.

Edit:

I am uploading a photo of mine right now so you can see the part they send with you to convert the turret to mount into the larger hole russ.

Here you go:

You can see the bottom of the turret is a small peg, you can also see they send you a ring with the kit that fits snuggly around that peg to allow for the turret to work for leman russes with the larger hole mounting.

Yeah i got my turrets yonks ago, they really only fit the older Leman Russ because the locating disc is huge, but if the newer FW turrets fit both tanks then i stand corrected! Would be pretty daft of FW i suppose not to ensure their turrets were compatible with the newer design

[/imgC:\Users\tori\Pictures\2006-03-18 001\PICT3901.JPG]Heres my FW Vanquisher turret underside next to a newer version of the Russ, i got the turret back in about 2005 i'd say, back then they didn't come supplied with the socket attachment as obviously the need didn't exist. You can see that the turret ring on the tank is too small for this older FW turret, also the quality of the casting was pretty poor; the underside was so uneven that the turret would wobble and list at an angle when set into the hull so i added the 4 strips you see on the underside to rectify this.

I have one of the newer FW turrets and they fit the newer Russ models fine, no need for the plastic socket. Although mine is used in a static emplacement anyway!
