This list is just for use at games at the FLGS and the tournaments they run there. Nothing too competitive. Just a chance to get out and play some 40k. I wanted to get some feedback about the idea and see what others might think.

Heavy
Thunderfire Cannon

Aegis Defense Line
Quad Gun

Grand Total for Army list is 1420

I still have 80 free points that I need to figure out. Thought number one was to include a Landspeeder(MM/HF). The other option is to spend those points on some upgrades for sarges wargear. I can see some value to each.

I look forward to some feedback.

You are so close, get the points to field two landspeeders.
I assume you are putting vulkan and the snipers into the ADL. Am I correct?

To get some flexibility, lose one sternguard. That way you can -depending on the opponent - either put Vulkan mounting the quad gun or add him to the drop pod.

Thanks for the feedback.

Two speeders? That would be another 60 points, that I'm not sure where I would grab them from. Do I drop 3 sternguard, 2 sternguard and a heavy flamer, the dreadnaught?

If I do sub in the landspeeders, would you recommend flying them in a squad, or as singles? My thought would be to fly them solo as thats what I did with my templars.

edit: I could also add two attack bikes in a squad, both with MM. That would only be 20 more points, though the speeders may be better fit for this list.

I thought DP had a transport capacity of 12? Was this FAQ'd sometime?

12 in a vanilla drop pod. Space wolves hate flying, DA hate Martians, BA take their time to keep stormravens aloft to worry about size of their drop pods, black templars use cheaper versions: thus it is both fair and fluffy.

I like the list, though it isn't my style.
I think this sort of list can do really well at competitions as I am not sure anyone will be looking out for it, else they may not have tactics sorted out yet to combat it.

Seriously try to get some early tablings in, I think that is a reasonable tactic against heavily flying lists.

Also try combat squading the ML at the back for example. Then use 5 marines to land on objectives.
In fact I just mean come up with a variety of tactics, there are many options to your list, just consider how best to cope with any given enemy.

MM/HF speeders are 70pts.

You are using Telion?

Drop that Quadgun to an Icarus.

95pts left over.

Hmm... you could drop the Melta Bombs and the Heavy Flamers off the Sternguard, giving you 130. drop the HF off the Dreadnought, making you 140. (since, with a MM, You want that dread going after some tanks anyways.)

That's both Speeders. Your Sternguard lose a bit of infantry killing power in exchange for two MM/HF Speeders. You could not take MMs, keep HBs, give the Sternguard the Heavy Flamers back, since your list has a lot of melta already.

Another option I have considered when just toying with the idea of getting the points is swapping Vulkan for a barebones librarian and keeping him with the sternguard. It's an option, but probably not the best one.
