hey guys with the prevalence of flyers in the new addition I decided to make an interesting (and hopefully competitive list) based around the stormtalon gunship! I haven’t had a lot of experience in 6th ed so this is a pretty rough list and I'd be grateful for any advice.

HQ
librarian epistolary - 150 (should I use my codex powers or the powers in the BRB and if so which discipline?)

TROOPS
Marines 10x w/m mm DP -210 (are power fists worth it now for challenges?)
Marines 10x w/m mm DP -210
Marines 10x w/flamer rocket launcher DP -205

ELITES
Dread w/ mm hf DP -150
Dread w/ mm hf DP -150
Sternguard w/ 5x combi meltas DP -285(again is a pf worth it?)

FAST ATTACK
Stormtalon w/ tl ac and cyclone missile launcher -155
Stormtalon w/ tl ac and cyclone missile launcher -155
Stormtalon w/ tl ac and cyclone missile launcher -155

this comes out to 1825 points.

Are there any glaring errors to this list? Is a librarian worth it? His lack of an invulnerable save has always put me off.
Is 6 troops enough? I was thinking about getting scouts too but they would be forced to deploy because of the new rules
and would prolly be destroyed by my opponents entire army if i went second, which would be kinda nice for my drop pods.

btw in case anyone is wondering I am allowed to keep my whole army in reserve despite the new rules because drop pods and flyers
must start in reserves and are not counted.

thanks in advance for any help!

One really quick thing to make sure you remember, Stormtalon gunships are not "attached" to any of your drop pods with their Escort rule. Only units that come in from reserve off of a table edge, not deep strike, get that perk. I wanted to do a similar thing with my Deathwing, but alas their deepstrike does not allow the stormtalon to come in.

If all you wanted was to have the stormtalons flyng around causing havoc by rolling on the reserves that's fine, just wanted to make a note of the Escort rule they have, as I have seen a few people misinterpret it.

Other than that, I think it could be a cool close range shooty list to play. It also feels very "Raven guard" to me. The problem is that you have NO close combat ability at all. And landing that close to enemies usually means you are going to get assaulted. Maybe drop the sternguard and grab some terminators or something, they too can kill tanks via power/chain fists and as such have a bit of sticking power in melee. They can deep strike too. conversely, maybe take some assault marines or something? If nothing else, I'd suggest power weapons or fists in the tactical squads. If challenged you will probably die anyway, so trying to ignore them altogether might be a good option.

I did know about the escort special rule restrictions which were kindof a bummer but with the crazy movement speed of flyers I don't think it will be too much of a handicap.

As for the assaultyness of my army it is lacking. I used to run shrike with a squad of assault marines but with the lightning claw nerf and the no assaulting after infiltrating its no longer so good. Idk about terminators teleporting in because there is not much they could do for a turn although
with the target saturation I'm hoping to achieve that might not be so bad.
does anyone have another idea that would help fix this issue.

I like the list.

I would prefer dropping a stormtalon to bring Vulkan and 8 combimeltas and 2 heavy flamers on the stern guard, then couple of combimeltas on the tactical squads, maybe a powerweapon as well.

If keeping combat tactics I would not worry about powerweapons. Just run away.

Good list
