A time ago I started a slow moving project of getting various kinds of FW dreads and converting them to fit in my salamanders army by removing various icons and sculpting in proper salamanders iconography and using the proper chapter colours.

Dunno why my camera crapped up the red colours though, the first dread looks linda like a bad painted santa clause but here it is anyway, the former DA dread.
I replaced the right line of "cloth" on the torso with a sculpt since the original was clogging all the nice iconography underneath. Also changed the swords held by wings and angels for hammers oh and all weapon options are there magnetized but I´m only showing two pairs.

That one will be for last and probably a few months into the future.
Next up is the ultramarine ven dread remake to salamanders.
It´s already painted so I need to get my lazy butt in gear and take some pics.

It may just be my eyes but this still looks very much a dark angels dreadnought, the only thing that would really take away from that are the reds

imo the fw chapter specific ven dreds dont make great candidates for conversion

Those are great. I would be proud to play against them. They look very "mander" to me. The plasma canon looks to be a little to clean to me but that is pretty minor. Great work!

I kid! :-) you've done awesome as usual Pyriel, that green blending is superbly done and the re modeling of some of the icons is amazing! such fiddly and subtle changes make it distinctly a Pyriel model, I honestly enjoy looking at anything you have painted and I'm waiting impatiently for you to get that butt into gear and shoot some pics of the next dread! seriously good work mate!

Excellent balance of colors, especially with the color scheme, base is very nice in of itself but does not distract at all with the model. Very much enjoyed these pictures!

This is the ultra FV ven dread.
A lot of pesky filing and cutting was needed in order to replace various things with samalander iconography.
The arms are magnetized as well as the banner, all removable and all options are there but not in the pics.

Which one looks better?

Beautiful! I honestly don't think I could pick which one i like most! I love the DA dread you did but that Ultra Sallies one has some spot on brilliant painting! the subtle blue/white wings are so smooth and the yellow gold blending is flawless, not to mention all the sculpting conversion you did to bring it into the salamanders chapter so distinctly, you should change your handle to 'Master Pyriel - Lord of the brush'

Nice job Pyriel! Really loving the paintjob and conversions of the FW dreads...I have those two in my collection too though haven't had a chance to paint them up yet. One thing is that the multi-melta is looking a bit "strange" to me. Doesn't the tube at the bottom normally come ribbed?

The tube on the MM was bubble so I simply replaced it will a piece of gs.

Only one more dread to go and it is a salamanders deathwatch conversion but again, I´m to lazy to take pics right now.

Finally, the third one added.
A forge world chaplain dread that I sculpted and painted up to be a Salamanders venerable chaplain dread seconded to the Deathwatch.

All arms are magnetized although not shown and the DCCW arm as seen has deathwatch themed "letters" sculpted up on the shoulder.

The idea is that this is a Salamanders dreadnought formerly seconded to the deathwatch and now having the honour marks (shoulder letters) gifted.

It's such a nice job but the latest one doesn't exactly make the Deathwatch theme clear at all. In all honesty I feel it would have been better using the standard Venerable Dread instead of the Chaplain one, and there isn't any Inquisitorial iconography to really indicate that it's Deathwatch and not just a Chaplain with some fancy mosiac on his shoulder.

If it doesnt look like a deathwatch dread then by all means it can just as easy be another normal Salamanders venerable one instead
