Wanting to get back into orks. Not too fond of trying to move the number of models neccassary for Green Tide. Non Bikers are fine and I'm making a list I would also like a BW list. However with the sever reduction in vehicles being useful I dunno if 4 BWs would be viable or not.

It works alright as long as your opponent is one that cannot spam Str 10 Ap 1 easily. If it is Tau, stay away from it. Very far away.

Vehicles did not get a sever reduction in effectiveness, Battle Wagon Spam is still a scary army to face. Go for it!

Nah, even tau fall to battlewaggons Easy enough. You Can get cover well enough from terrain, and night fighting is common enough. Sides, if tau setup to have enough anti armor; They will probably be unable to deal with the blob that turds out of orky tanks.

Wagons are still alive and kicking. The same weapons that killed them in 5th still kill them in 6th (Meltas and Lascannons to side armor), except they're stronger against glances since a lucky glance can no longer wreck them like in 5th. I've been messing around with Shootas inside so I can snap fire on the contents of transports that I crack open with Deffrollas, haven't had that opportunity yet however.

I have and it is fun. So is a squad of Burna Boyz or Lootas. They keep boarders away.

I've been told that tau can ignore nightfighting for very little points though (black sun filter something?). Didn't play against tau in 6th yet though.

Either way, broadsides lost their multi-targeting, making it impossible to shoot more than three targets a turn with them, which should result in about two dead battlewagons, maybe less if you manage 4+ cover for everyone (rocks, ruins). The other two can hit tau front lines on turn two, and we all know what happens when tau get into close combat.

They are not as great as they once were but they are still viable. However, that is true for orks in general.

Kffs are less needed and you have a few other smaller changes to make to lists but it is more or less the same.

Just played 4 BW against a Tau army (1850) and almost got tabled. He popped all of them on turn 2 and the explosions killed half my boys. I footslogged the rest of the game and got lit up. I'm trying to come up with a biker list instead now, gotta get in there fast!

Im currently looking at a Biker/wagon list. Belozey pretty much said it. It's not so much that wagons are easier to kill, it's just the fact that when they do explode youre probably gonna lose 8-9 boyz when it happens. Thats a dead tank and almost half a squad from one good shot. On top of that youre not allowed to Ram a Tank with your Deff Rolla and assault the contents. So im trying to get a hybrid going. Boost the bikes up in their face turn one, then boost the wagons up behind them. At that point if they shoot the bikes the wagons live and wreck face. If they shoot the wagons then the bikers live and wreck face. Its still all a hypothesis right now though. Ill get my first game in with it this saturday.

I'd rather face off against a green tide now than a battlewagon list. At least, as far as winning the game is concerned. Whatever fears you have about your HP4 AV14 vehicles getting worse, know that several other options in your codex took a nosedive faster.

Plus, a battlewagon full of burnaz or lootaz is still insane.

... especially when you consider that burnaz can overwatch if the battlewagon gets charged...

Make this a third chime in with Wagon explosions. They hurt. IMO, they hurt so much that the list concept as we know it goes away because the explosion kills so much of a unit.

IMO I think Battle Wagons Would Be Good as a transport because someone can't glance it and say "oh sucks for you. Your boys and Battle Wagon are stuck in that same spot for a turn."
because all it does is take is A hull point. other then lossing a hull point then your Battle wagon can still move 3, 6, 12 inches And complete its task by bringing boyz up the field.

If I was against a Battle wagon spam list and that happened then I would devote more shots to take that out and not your other units and vehicles. so it would help to get even more units of yours up

I only recently got the BW list up to where I wanted it, and my first mistake was using it for anything but a full speed charge up the table. For at least the first and second turn, you want full speed ahead, plus flat out.

Any waggons that get slowed down, leave em there. (although, this shouldn't happen short of a wreck since you can take armor plates.

Also, something fast like bikers or something long range like lootas help a ton in keeping attention off your wagons while they scoot forward.

Here's my question, "Did 6th edition make the Grabbin Klaw Mandatory in BW Spam lists"?

You can get around 22-25" threat with the Grabbin Klaw.
* 13" move
* 6" flat out
* 1" Klaw in front of BW ( could be more if you mod the Klaw to extend it)
* 2" area from the klaw.

Also multiple Klaws equal multiple test to see if a vehicle doesn't move that turn.

If I'm wrong please correct me, however if i'm correct this just made BW's incredibly powerful.

I've heard tales of grabbing fliers out of the air with a grabbin klaw, immobilizing and thereby destroying them. I don't know if this actually works or not though.

Both the Grabbin Klaw and Wrekking Ball work similarly - you have to get really close to an enemy vehicle, but if you can then potentially all sorts of amusing damage can result. But only recommended for a fast 'in your face' close range army, IMHO.

BW lists seem to be doing alright by me.
Last game I played was Wagon/Biker Speed Freeks against Tau.
Wagons survived till round 4 with KFF and Riggers.
I see absolutely no nerf to wagons. Hull points only make them stronger in my opinion since I tend to run them open topped.
I will say this though, Tau are quite a bit better now.

Trick is, as alluded to in the thread title, to SPAM the wagon.
Give your opponents too many targets (target saturation is a good idea in general anyway).
One wagon will die fast and stands out like a sore thumb.

I'm now playing with 4 wagons at 1500, all of which either have angry meganobs or lootas inside so all targets are of equal importance.
