But I think you should make a choice between power fist and wolf claw. First of all, you're spending too many points on wargear that is guaranteed not to be used (you can only use one at a time
PF or
WC). Second of all, this squad can't shoot and it must be able to because it cannot assault on the turn it lands from the drop pod. What about something like this?
EDIT: Also...It's pretty difficult to actually model a terminator with a
PF and
SS because right handed powerfists and left handed storm shields are rare. (I know from trying this) So even though the
PF /
SS dude is probably better value for your points than a
TH /
SS dude, you'll have to do some conversion.
Next, your Rune Priest does NOT need a wolf tooth necklace. He already has
WS 5 which means that he hits everything with WS4 or less on a 3+ already. Furthermore, if he ever gets into
CC with a model for which the
WTN will actually help you, then you might as well kiss your
RP goodbye because the
WTN isn't going to save him. Save the 10 points and get something else.
I'm not a fan of the Whirlwind, but I know some people like them. I would recommend the changes above and using the 30 points saved to either upgrade the
WW to a Vindicator, or add more grey hunters to your squads or ditch the
WW altogether for another unit of Long Fangs.
The power fist/wolf claw combo is actually one of the best in the game right now,
IMO. Due to both having the "Specialist weapon" rule, you get the +1 attack. So on the charge, you get a terminator with either 4 power fist attacks or 4 wolf claw attacks for 48 points; pretty good
IMO.
They aren't really supposed to do something the turn they come in from the pod; they either A) Drop near some units such as Long Fangs, Psyflemen, etc that the opponent needs alive, causing firepower to be diverted at them instead of at my other units coming up field, B) Drop out of line of sight and near an objective to provide board control, or C) come in through normal deepstrike (not the drop pod) so they can come in where I need them later in game.
The
WTN/
WTT are points fillers. I could've thrown on meltabombs on 3 of the grey hunter squads, but I like my lists to be symmetrical for some reason. However, you're probably right, I'll drop them for something else.
The whirlwind was due to me expecting lots of necrons, and I thought the AP4 would be good. However, you're probably right in that a vindicator would serve better.
