Perhaps it's because I play WFB, but I can't seem to get my head around the 40k LOS rule. As a daemon player the time when this is most important is when someone is firing on my Flamers. I have them with a HoT on a disc and have the pyrocaster upgrade. So let's say the HoT is positioned to be the closest to the point of fire from the opponent. Can I roll saves vs wounds at 4++(the HoT's save), then LOS any unsaved wounds? Or do I have to LOS first and then save wounds at 5++(the flamer's save)? Do ILOS to the pyrocaster and then start removing whole models from the Flamers? Or, can I LOS to each Flamer and then start doubling up after each Flamer is wounded? What if the pyrocaster is in front can I LOS wounds prior to trying to save to the HoT for a better Invulv?

Thanks for any answers.

This has been fleshed out a few times.
If the saves on the unit are the same for the given weapon inflicting the wound, then LOS comes after you roll the saves.
If the saves are different you LOS then make saves.

You may only do it one way and that way is defined by what order you allocate the wounds vs saving. That is defined by page 15(or 16).

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.
