Use the Aegis Line with the scouts, Play conservatively with the tac squad since the list has few troops. Vulkan with the THSS in the Land raider push forward depending on deployment attach Lysander to either the THSS or the Sternguard. Drop the Sternguard near the enemy, combat-squaded to take two targets. Lysander TLs the special ammo of a Sternguard unit. Go tank hunting with the Land Speeder and play back with the Vindicator. I know its low on troops but I'd like to use the Sternguard and I don't know if a 5 man squad is worth it for Sternguard. I think a normal landraider would be better but I don't have one. I haven't got a chance to play with the Aegis Line, but it looks like its worth it on paper.

No.

Stop that!

#bops you on the nose with a rolled up news paper.

At 1850 you are taking two 200 point characters and fortifications? This list does absolutely nothing well.

Learn the basics before trying to get fancy.

Vulcan is not adding a lot to this list. I'd replace him with a chaplain to lead the assault squad. I also advocate a mix of LCs and TH/SSs, I'd go 2:3

I'd cut most of the combi meltas for points. With Lysander, you are going to be bolter-drilling special rounds into infantry targets. Any turn you are not doing this is a turn wasted. Keep them together so they all get it. Keep one or two c-meltas just in case.

Your troops need help. Pretty much every point you scrape up elsewhere is going here. Get another tac squad if you can. Get Talion for your scouts to man the quad gun. Get rhinos. For an 1850 list you need to be stronger here. If you have to cut the scouts down to 5 to get more tacticals, do it.

You want to go tank hunting with a speeder? Just slap a MM on it and call it a day. Add another MM if you want to ensure hard kills, or a HF if you want versatility.

Vindicator is not bad. Roll it up with the LR and a rhino full of tacs to blow the core out of your foes army and claim the pieces.

ugh Nevelon, are you giving real advice? darn it. fine. I'll be more helpful.

Taking Nevelon's advice and moving forward...

I disagree on the single vindi. Simply too easy to kill and not fast enough to keep up with your forward movement. Double or even triple up on them or simply leave them at home. Let the CC termies take on the big stuff that the vindi is meant for.

At 1850 I would suggest 3 full tacticals (2 MIN) to sure up troops. The new rules for dedicated transports and combat squads are fantastic so make sure you have rhinos for them.

You already have that drop stern guard squad to melta exposed Heavy AV and the LR mounted MM and the hammers inside that. I think the MM/MM speeder might be uneccessary. If you feel you face tons of AV 13/14 spam then fine take it. But in that case you might was well drop lysander for vulkan. Other alternatives to the speeder based MM is attack bikes BTW. (True T5, jink, relentless, Hammer of Wrath...)

Try to fit at least two tlAC Dreads. They are still the bees knees and the best choice for high rate of fire, heavy support in that codex.

Ten points to play with maybe a MM on a Landspeeder. This is alot like my old list except lysander instead of Vulkan and I wanted to try sternguards for a bit but at only 5 are they really useful? Dreads are elites in my codex, not heavy but I do have 2 autocannon dreads, I just don't like them in 6th as much, maybe I've just been unlucky and I've never had too much trouble with the vindcator but maybe I've been lucky in that respect. I'll play with dropping it and adding sternguard, maybe try dreads again. Thank you for the help.

I think you are trying to do too many things with this current list.
You expect to hold a base of shooting with the ADL, rush forward with mech and drop pod nicely.

May I suggest drop pods and either storm talons or a fire support behind an ADL.
Similar idea to your current plans.

Command squad neatly armed+vulkan in drop pod, gives him some cc guys to charge with.

10 sternguard+Lysander in drop pod, you want to make the most of Lysander, this is still silly but your choice.

Drop pod tactical squads, combat squad a lascannon or ML to hang out at the back if you have an ADL. they'll want combimelta+melta or flamers.

The issue with drop pods are they'll want some antiflyer and some ranged weapons to cover their lack of mobility once they land. This is where having an ADL with a reasonable gunline, or going for 2 or 3 stormtalons comes in useful.

That would be my attempt to make the guys work, currently you are trying to do too much, which when you have so many points in HQs it is impossible.

Leave the quad gun at home.

Flyers are not on the board turn one which means it is practically useless and your opponent can just shoot it up before it does it's job.

That is if the opponent even has a flyer; otherwise it is just wasted points.

Say no to quad guns...

Thread necromance I guess, but:
only 1 nqamed character at 1850 - too points intensive.
3 full troop choices minimum - in transports if you can
Quad gun with telion shooting is anything but a waste - 4 S7 shots, twin linked, hitting on 2s and wounding on 2s with precision shot on them is pretty tasty.

If you build your list properly, there is no way your opponent is shooting a T7 model with 3+/4+ in the rear on turn one. Just present him with bigger threats and screw his target priority up.
